Disappointed with Exhaust Fan

Bought this unit for over the cooktop so I did not have to have on the counter. The exhaust fan barely pulls any smoke or steam. Called for service and was told that is all it does. Very disappointing, since I got it for that purpose. Unfortunately, we had the kitchen designed for this unit, so had to keep it.
