Do Not Buy.

I purchased this thinking it would be a nice easy extension for my Oculus. I was wrong. I plugged it in, sound worked, but only a black screen in the headset. I tried different ports, I tried multiple reboots, I tried having it be the only thing plugged in, no display at all. I have not been impressed with Insignia products recently and unfortunately this hasn't changed my opinion.

Works great, a better buy than the Fenix 3
on June 1, 2016

Verified Purchase:Yes
Pros:
* Touchscreen (could be a con, depends on your taste)
* Lightweight
* Heart Rate monitor appears to work well
* A lot of features
* Waterproof to 5ATM
* Good battery life
* Syncs fast, I finish an activity and it's already logged on Nike+ and
Garmin Mobile
* Notifications from paired phone
* Screen is the width of the band, I haven't ran it into anything
accidentally yet.
* Great tracking
* Comfortable
* Battery life appears great
Cons:
* No virtual partner to race against (that I can find)
* Can only dim backlight, can't turn it off completely (only when you're touching the screen).
* No wifi connection ability (syncs quickly over Bluetooth though)
* Touchscreen gets dirty easily without protection (see images)
I returned a Fenix 3 due to the gripes I had compared to its cost and I got this. I am so much happier with this purchase. It's 50% the cost and just works better for me. I finish an activity and it has already sync'd and loaded all my info onto the phone. That never happened with the Fenix 3. The heart monitor is also a nice feature (how a $500 device has no monitor, I don't know) and appears to track well. I don't know if it's accurate, but at the least, you can see patterns with your heart rate and cadence.
tl;dr: I returned a Fenix 3 for this, and I am so happy I did. It's lighter, it works better, I love it. The VivoActive HR has renewed my faith in Garmin.

Gripe to Cost Ratio too High
on June 1, 2016

Verified Purchase:Yes
Pros:
* A ton of features
* Race yourself with virtual partner
* Looks nice
* Appears to be accurate
* Can add a chest monitor for heart rate and cadence
Cons:
* No touchscreen (might be a pro, depends on taste)
* Buttons are stiff, repeatedly pulled my hair trying to press them.
* Cost way too high to justify my issues
* Only sync'd over wifi
* No feedback when syncing to let me know that it was doing anything
* Heavy
* Can only select wifi networks by connecting it to a computer, for some reason can't select the wifi by the watch or mobile app.
* Had to force it to sync to get it to sync at all.
* Can be a steep learning curve with so many features.
* Took longer to set up a run than to run.
* No heart rate monitor included (chest add-on is $100, or Fenix 3 HR is $599)
These might be minor gripes, but for a device that costs at least $499, these design issues shouldn't exist. I should have been extremely happy with my purchase, and I wasn't. I should have been able to start a run on the watch, do the run, and then when it was finished it should have sync'd automatically with the mobile app. It didn't do this. After fiddling with it, I found out I had to tell the phone to connect to wifi (it didn't do it automatically, even though I already set up the network) and then it sync'd with my mobile app. That doesn't even make sense.
I ended up returning the Fenix 3 and got a VivoActive HR. I am so much happier with it and it's $250 less.
tl;dr: I was extremely disappointed. The watch acted more like a $200 device, not a $500.

How do I order this item? I can not add it to my cart and I can not find a store anywhere in the country that has is available for pickup.

It appears they have very limited stock. I was 'lucky' and one day had an add to cart button. Unfortunately, my extension cable didn't work, so it's been a waste of time.

Does this come with golf courses? If not, how do you download them? I can't find clear directions anywhere.

Using the Garmin Connect mobile app, you can download the golf courses and then they will sync to the VivoActive.

You'll need to download them from the Garmin Connect mobile app. It's one of the main options in the index. Once downloaded, the courses should transfer the next time your phone syncs with your device.

Can the person wearing allow others to see his location?

There is a "Livetrack" feature on the Garmin Mobile App. If you're using that, it should show where you are in real time. I believe that works on any of their devices with GPS though, not just the Fenix 3.
