Whatever your Bond preference, real fans love the array of historical styles. This Roger Moore vehicle is decidedly on the corny corner of the street but who can resist Christopher Lee as the sophisticated Scaramanga and his shorty side-kick, Nick Nack. And let's not forget the lively ladies, Britt Eklund as Goodnight and Maude Adams as Andrea. Not great, but, heck, good fun.

I have a second home without Internet connection. Therefore, I don't have purpose for a "smart" player. This stripped-down Blu-Ray player perfectly fits the purpose. The picture and sound are excellently reproduced without wasting money on extraneous goodies.
Famous writer Roald Dahl scripts this last Bond with Sean Connery. It's wildly extravagant for better and for worse. Some believe that Austin Powers was inspired most by this installment. Personally, I get a nostalgic kick out of it but it's pretty obvious that Sean has discovered he's lost in space with no way home and pretty pleased able it.
Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyer's Club, Young Victoria) was an unlikely match up with the spunky, blonde Reese Witherspoon but then so is Reese with the seriousness of the subject matter. Based on a memoir by Cheryl Strayed regarding her life cleansing hike on the Pacific Crest Trail, Reese had to scruff up her cutesy veneer to convince us she could ever be anything but the "It Girl." I was impressed by her transformation and determination. Giving credence to the film is Laura Dern as her mother in another intense, compelling performance.
Jennifer Aniston doesn't get enouug respect as an actress having started her career as a comedian in the box. She's actually quite good but spends most of her screen time in romantic comedies. With Cake, she took on a serious role and was rewarded with high praise from her peers and critics, including a nomination from The Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild. Not to give anything away, but many actresses have overplayed parts with a similar theme. Jennifer gets it just right.
I was working on with a group to make a list of the best films of the 90's. This film showed up on a couple of lists and I'd never even seen it. It's a stunner with a great concept and impeccable production. Director, Alex Proyas (The Crow, I, Robot), creates an atmosphere that you can feel on your skin. Rufus Sewell doesn't get many opportunities to take the lead so he makes everything count. After viewing, I also added it to my list must see films of the 90"s.
Joe Wright does a truly daring feat as he presents this film as predominantly a stage play. I imagine he wanted to accentuate the restrictions and unreality imposed on human emotions and choices by strict societal code and conventions. Anna Karenina is about a woman who broke its bonds for love and paid with a deep price. Kiera Knightly is as beautiful as the production if a little affected to break our hearts as she should. The cast, especially Jude Law as the cuckhold husband, is superb.
This film is reminiscent of those great 70s masterpieces where everything and everyone is wrapped up in enigma and ambiguity. Oscar Isaac, who is proving himself as one of cinemas great chameleons, plays the straight arrow trying to make his way through twist and turns of urban corruption. Don't trust anyone, including yourself. The direction and production are pitch perfect. It's like they found this on some studio shelf and released it 40 years down the line.

This cool designed case is only a protector against scratches, really, as it isn't shock resistant but it is great for its purpose. I've had numerous compliments.

It may have just been my phone but the dual nature of this case made it so the "on" and volume controls were not open to actual touch but relied on pressure points built into the case. The constant pressure made my phone act up. I had to return the case.
