My last four receivers have been Sonys. After getting the last one, I realized (after purchasing) that there was no phono amp. I suppose I just assumed there was one. Had to use an older, 2-Channel receiver in order to listen to records. Anyway, cut to four or five years later, after the HDMI board petered out, and I had to use the coax and optical outputs, I needed to upgrade. The Onkyo receiver was at least $300 cheaper than the Sony with a phono amp. I had an analog Onkyo decades ago, so I was already familiar with the brand.
In conclusion, I am extremely happy with my new receiver.
