The only two negatives are 1) powdered detergent clumps in the receptacle when cold wash is used, 2) due to the larger capacity than our old washer loading and unloading the washer requires deeper knee bends. I like how I first pick the basic wash I want, and then I can alter things like water temperature to exactly what I want. I like the time to wash display, which then counts down the minutes until the wash is done. I like the chimes rather than a buzzer when the wash is done. The washer is quiet enough that we can listen to the TV in the next room while it runs. If someone had trouble picking things up that are low they might want a pedestal for this washer. I have not tried the steam feature yet.

I like this. It made it so we had more room in the laundry room. We put in a little table with a skirt around it to hide the kitty litter. A great upgrade in my opinion. I never tried the dryer un-stacked, so I don't know for sure if it is noisier stacked, which was a concern. But it does not seem any noisier than the old dryer was and we can easily listen to the TV in the next room when it runs. The movement of the wash from the washer to the dryer is easy with the dryer just above the washer. Our laundry room forces the washer being on the right, and with the washer door opening to the left, a hamper was always needed for the transfer to the dryer. But, a couple of items usually make a jump for it when moving clothes to the dryer, so a hamper to catch them is still a good idea. With the dryer at eye level and having a lighted drum, I don't think I'll ever leave something behind in the dryer again. We are 5'9" and 5'7" and reaching the dryer controls is easy and reading the display is OK. Because the dryer display is flat it can be viewed from below. If the dryer display was tilted up like it is on some models, then stacking would not work. Maybe someday a manufacturer will have a dryer display that can be tilted up or down depending on how the dryer is installed and how tall the user is.

Only two negatives - 1) the powdered detergent I used in my last front loader clumps in the soap compartment when cold wash is used in this washer, but works if warm wash is used - 2) the washer is a bigger capacity than my last front loader, which is good, but it does mean that without a pedestal I have to do some deep knee bends to load and unload the washer. I like the large capacity, and I like the chimes rather than a buzzer when the load is done. I like the time count down display so I know how long a chosen cycle will take and how long until it is done when I check back on it. I like the many choices I can make on how the wash is done, like water temp, after I pick the basic style of wash I want on the dial. I have not played with the steam setting yet. My sweetie was pleased she could run all the bathroom mats in one load in this washer.

Is there specific dryer that can stack with this? I know there is a match "steam dryer" one but I was also wondering if the one with out steam would also work such as this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/whirlpool-duet-7-4-cu-ft-6-cycle-electric-dryer-white/6408342.p?id=1219215990784&skuId=6408342
The reason for asking is I can see a reason for steam in a washer but in a dryer really for most people does not seem necessary.

I bet the non-steam would work fine. Maybe the stacking kit has a list of washers and dryers it is for? At the store I think the two models were the same size, but I couldn't swear to that. I have the steam models stacked and that works fine. I bought steam because it was on sale so it didn't cost much at all - but I've not tried the feature on the washer or dryer in the month I've had them. My theory is that I would be more likely to use steam in the dryer to freshen a dry clean only item, or to remove wrinkles, but it hasn't happened yet. I guess I have been thinking of steam washing the pillows for our bed, but haven't gotten around to it. Too busy writing reviews I guess. I was worried how the plumbing worked, but it was no problem. The dryer comes with a T connector, so it shares the cold water connection with the washer, which works fine.
