The Kindle paperwhite is the best Ereader that you can buy. It is visible in any light situation from the brightest sunlight to the darkest room. The best thing about it is that I don't get eye strain from it. I've tried the LCD readers and they don't work well outdoors or in a bright room. If all you want to do is read, this is the one for you!

Yes they can, there is a switch on the side to change from auto to manual.

Is the battery replaceable in paperwhite?
No, the battery in the Paperwhite is not user replaceable. I've had mine since they first came out and have no issues.
