Two in One Saves Counter Space
on September 5, 2023
Posted by: ladilyn
I'm a fan of Ninja as I believe they have great products. The Ninja Detect Duo Power Blender Pro + Single Serve serves to confirm that belief. The reason I wanted this particular blender was because it was both a normal size blender as well as being able to make a single serving without having to use the bigger container. Saves counter space when I can have only one blender instead of two. However, I got so much more. I puree a lot of veggies and fruits which I then freeze to later throw into soups, sauces and smoothies. One problem I encounter is knowing how much liquid to add to the veggies. This blender will tell you if you need more liquid and I found it so much easier to add more than worry about having started with too much. Broccoli, cauliflower and carrots were easily pureed. I also puree for grandkids and that is where the BlendSense feature impressed me. I put some beef stew into the blender, set it to BlendSense and it was perfectly pureed. No worries about little chunks that might cause issues for little throats to swallow. It also worked great making smoothies as I tend to just throw things in without measuring so the liquid indication is great there as well. There is a manual feature so if you'd prefer, you can choose your own timing, particularly if you want to chop things. It comes with a nice recipe booklet which also shows how best to layer your foods into the blender and how best to use it.
My only negative is that the blender tends to be loud. However, with the power the blender has, it doesn't take long to do what is needed. Still, something to consider.

Versatile and Gives Peace of Mind

When I received my 360 Electrical - PowerCurve24, 4 Rotating Outlets/4 USB-A 1080 Joules Surge Protector, I was first struck by how high it is. The next thing was how small the outlets looked and I wondered if some of my electrical items could be grouped together regardless how big the chargers are. The third was that it is aesthetically pleasing. So I got started on finding out if I could actually use it where I intended. While the outlets look small, probably because the white of the outlet is what draws the eye, there was plenty of room to be able to use all the chargers needed. In fact, because of the four USB ports, one of the items is no longer necessary which frees up an outlet. However, it is too high for me to use it where I wanted it. You see, my desk has a platform on which sits my monitor and I wanted to put the PowerCurve there. While the PowerCurve fits, it does not fit if something is plugged in. However, I did discover that the PowerCurve has the ability to be hung and I was able to attach it to the side of that platform which actually works better as the USB ports are closer and easier to change out as needed.
The reason for the 4 star rating is the length of the power cord. It is only 4 feet. As the instructions are specific about it needing to be in a grounded main line, this will limit someone's ability to place it. While the cord is just long enough, the reason I can use it is because it is in a corner where I don't have to worry about the cord stretching from the desk to the outlet. It does come with good information on how to use it including how to know if it has protected your electronics from a surge, something my other surge protectors don't do. Overall, I recommend the 360 Electrical - PowerCurve24, 4 Rotating Outlets/4 USB-A 1080 Joules Surge Protector with the proviso that the buyer be aware of the cord length.

Fast, efficient and easy to use

When I received the Dell - Inspiron 16.0" 2-in-1 Touch Laptop -13th Gen Intel Evo i7 - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD - Platinum Silver, it was packaged well, no worries about shipping mishaps. It was very easy to get up and running. The instructions were basic, only how to get the laptop powered up. I was pleased by the speed while Windows was getting set up and also with the download of the extra apps I wanted on my laptop. As we only have DSL in our area, this was great! There is the option for fingerprint security and it, to my surprise, easily took my fingerprint. I opted instead for a PIN as readers never work well for me due to cold hands. I absolutely love the backlit keyboard. Due to others I've had, I never saw what the big deal was but this one has won me over as it functional and not just showy. The keyboard is also touch-typist friendly which I always look for. It has two USB-A ports and two Thunderbolt ports, one of which is needed for the charger. The second can be used as a USB-C port. It has an HDMI port as well as a media reader. It has camera, speakers and microphone. It has bluetooth and paired my phone quickly and easily. The screen size is 16" but it seems much bigger to me. I love it as I prefer a larger screen as with old eyes, larger is seen easier. An added feature it has is an integrated Alexa app. I was hoping that it was similar to what I have on my mobile but it really is just an echo. I will caution that if you have an echo in the same room you will want to change your wake word as having two of them trying to answer your questions is a bit like listening to the Weasley twins speak. The graphics are great. While my games are not the shoot-em-up variety, they are graphics heavy so I was pleased with how quickly they downloaded.
I'm finding this a great replacement to my previous laptop. The extra storage will be welcome for my business needs as well as when student papers are needed. I will definitely be recommending the Dell - Inspiron 16.0" 2-in-1 Touch Laptop -13th Gen Intel Evo i7 - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD - Platinum Silver to anyone who asks.

Good travel laptop
on May 24, 2023

My first impression of the HP was good, I love the way this came packaged. First, the box the laptop came in is a very sturdy box, actually perfect for gift-giving. It come nestled in cardboard which has flaps on the top to allow you to easily lift the box out of the shipping package. The laptop itself is covered in paper and there is a flap in the front which, again, allows you to easily get the laptop out of the box. This is probably the first laptop where I wasn't worried about accidently dropping it while trying to get it out of the packaging -- yes, I'm that clumsy. The instructions to turn on the laptop acts as a buffer between the screen and the keyboard. After lifting out the laptop, there is another thin cardboard which hides the spaces for the cable and charger. So far, so good. Then I encountered what didn't sink in when going over the specifications -- only USB-C ports. All my add-ons are USB-A ports. No worries, easy fix and my mouse is up and running. Other than the sheet which tells you how to plug in, turn on, and access wifi for the first time, there is no other information. This I find problematic depending on who will end up with the laptop. It does pretty much auto-start and I didn't have a problem but just be aware of the knowledge level of the person getting the laptop in case they may need help to set-up. I tried using the fingerprint reader but that did not work for me. I do have cold hands though and know it has been an issue with other devices. The touch is easy and I had no issues typing or accessing anything I needed. My big complaint is the positioning of the power and delete keys. I simply don't understand why they are set up the way they are and turned off the laptop a couple of times reaching for the delete key. A touch-typist will have issues with this. Also, there are keys I don't recognize and there is nothing to explain them -- another issue. Other that the power button issue, I have found this laptop easy to use, responsive and it does everything I generally need it to do.

Comfort at the touch of a finger
on May 3, 2023
Posted by: ladilyn
First off, I love the small size of the case, my others have been bigger. It just fits on my bedside table much easier. The earbuds are also smaller than any I've owned and fit in my ear much better without it being obvious I have them (it) in. It comes with extra ear tips so you can select a size that fits the best. Word of caution. Mine came in a plain white envelope which had gotten squished in the packaging so I didn't see them. It wasn't until I came across instructions on how to replace the ear tips that I realized there were more and went exploring and found them stuck up in a corner of the packaging. I found my best size and it fits so well. I don't feel as if I have them jammed in my ear nor do I feel they are about to fall out. They are very comfortable which, for me, is a huge plus.
Now, to what you really want to know. They paired with my landline, my mobile and my laptop with no issues. The laptop surprised me as it tends to be finicky but not this time. They are touch sensitive and responded well to each touch whether turning them on, off or lowering the volume to be able to hear what is going on around you. Apparently you can also boost the bass but I didn't try that. The noise canceling function works well for me, I didn't even hear the herd of elephants called my four grandchildren enter the house. These are low latency and, while I cannot speak to gaming as I'm the low end of that, I did stream a couple of videos on my phone and did notice there was less lag time then usual with the audio as compared to my past earbuds. While I cannot speak much to battery life, I simply don't use them for hours at a time, I have not had issues with only charging them overnight and they hold up all day for me. I probably use them about 6 to 7 hours a day, only 4 hours in a continuous stretch then intermittent through the rest of the day. I am very happy with them and passed my old pair of earbuds down to my granddaughter.

Easy peasy lemon squeezie

For full disclosure, Panasonic is one of my two top favorite brands for phones. So, I got this set with expectations. Not only did Panasonic meet those expectations, they exceeded them. Now that the kids all have their own cell phones and no longer rush to answer the phone, I no longer needed my old set and preferred to have something smaller for my home office. I just got the set with the extra handset so I could place it upstairs and use it as an intercom when Alexa conveniently (for the kids) decides she doesn't want to drop in upstairs. But now the set on my desk is smaller and doesn't take up all the space with buttons I don't need.
I was blown away by how easy the set up was. It seemed to set itself up. I've had difficulty in the past pairing my earbuds to various devices as they aren't a name brand and aren't used constantly. Not a problem with this set. I hit the Pair button and it immediately found my buds without issue. Done. I used them with the next call that came in instead of running back to my desk from another room and the volume was good and there was no problem picking up the sound from my mic. No more having to bring the handset with me when I'm away from my desk. No more forgetting to bring the handset back so it can charge either. I'm in heaven.
The operating instructions are illustrated and thorough. There's a quick start guide to pair with wireless headphones as well as one for blocking and unblocking spam calls. There is also information on accessories such as available handsets for those with hearing loss or bad eyesight and one to take with you out to the pool without worrying about it getting wet. There is a range extender as well as a Key Detector you can get if you tend to lose your keys. There's a troubleshooting page as well as suggestions for tutorials to use the many features this phone has.
The handsets use standard rechargeable batteries so no more having to search out which battery pack is needed when they start to die. Inputting names and numbers to the phonebook is simple. I'm still blown away by how easy this own experience has been. My 90 year old mother could set this up and use it. Oh, and in case you missed it, I recommend this phone.

Easy to put on, touch sensitive
on March 20, 2023

The Insignia™ - Glass Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S23 and S22 was so easy to put on the phone. It comes with an guide that snaps on the phone which eliminated the problem of it going on crooked, therefore needing to take it back up and starting again trying to keep it straight. Due to that, it was easier to place the protector while making sure no air bubbles developed. It was very smooth. Following advice from others, we eliminated the fingerprint feature before placing the screen protector. Once the screen protector was on, my daughter was able to enter her fingerprint with no issues. Better yet, my granddaughter couldn't unlock the phone with her fingerprint which she had done with the old phone where the fingerprint was scanned before that screen protector was put on. There is no cloudiness or distortion, rather a crisp and clear screen. The touch sensitivity seems great so far with no areas where it is hard to get the phone to respond. Our family (well my granddaughter isn't thrilled) definitely recommend the Insignia™ - Glass Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S23 and S22.

Individual Safety Addressed
on January 16, 2023
Posted by: ladilyn
I work at an office where I'm alone quite a bit of the time yet the office is open to the general public. There have been times when I just have not felt safe. Dialing 911 is not always an option either. So, when I saw this, I thought it was a great idea. The set up was very easy. I had no issues downloading the app nor setting it up on my phone. The app walks you through testing both from the phone as well as the buttons. It helps you set up a cancel code in case you accidently hit the button or find the situation you thought you were in is resolved and you no longer need assistance. It appears ot be a good individual safety device and it is reassuring to know that there is a person out there who can help wherever you are. The only issue I've had so far is that the batteries that came with it were already almost gone as I get a low battery warning within ten minutes of setting this up. It also was a drain on my phone battery which, if I want to have it on me at work, will be a problem.
That said, this is supposed to be a family bundle yet I cannot see how that will work when the button can only be paired with a single phone so how can I share this with my family? I tried to see if I could purchase additional buttons figuring we could pair each button with individual phones but could not find how to purchase extra. Also you have to be within range of that phone so I found I could not go from one end of our building to the other and still stay in range.
Overall, I think this is good for individual safety if the power drain can be addressed. However, given the information I have available, it's family use is limited.

Small grill, BIG Flavor
on October 19, 2022
Posted by: ladilyn
Just when I thought Ninja couldn't surprise me anymore, they come out with the Woodfire 7-in-1 Outdoor Grill. This is an electric grill that is weatherproofed to withstand being left outside. While it will bake, roast, dehydrate and broil, it's main attraction is the grill, smoker and air fryer. What makes those so special? Well, it is wood pellets you can add that turns this electric grill into something special - an electric grill that gives a great smoky taste to your food. It is this technology that makes it an outdoor grill though, without using that part, you should be able to use it inside as a grill and air fryer. Obviously you wouldn't be able to use the smoker inside.
This is great for those who live in apartments as they can now grill on their porch without worry about open flames. It's a great size for travel, RVs and tailgate parties. For those of us who don't need a big smoker but would like the use of one occasionally, we now have that. Imagine air frying wings but still having that smoky flavoring to them. These are things everyone can now do as long as they have electricity to run the Grill. I tried it with my portable power station and it worked a treat. No worries about taking it to the park and grilling.
The food tasted fantastic and it had the grill marks you would get using a regular wood burning grill. I would dispute the amount of food you can make on the grill at one time but that is mostly due to the different cuts of meats people can buy. Still we had no difficulties feeding 6 at a time. It comes with two types of wood pellets, one which is like an all-purpose flavor while the other seemed to be much stronger, for a more full-bodied smoke flavor. It is my hope that Ninja expands this line in the future. I did check to see how hard it would be to get more of the wood pellets. I found them sold in any store which carried the Ninja Outdoor Grill so that isn't an issue. Best of all, the clean up was easy which is always a big star in my book.
My only disappointment with the grill is the length of the cord. I think a 6-foot cord would be much better given the need for an electrical outlet. I have an outlet on my porch but the four foot cord was too short to allow me to put the grill in the outside corner without an extension yet a 6-foot cord would have made it no problem. When I tried running it off my car, again, that extra 2 feet would take the grill further away from the car to avoid so much smoke getting in.
When looking for the wood pellets, I also found that there are accessories you can get for this Grill. There is a cart which looks to fit the grill which has wheels so you can wheel the grill under cover when finished. It apparently also collapses which would make it easy for transport. There is an all-weather cover for the grill itself in case you want to leave it outside. You can get a griddle plate to go over the grill. This makes it great for travel being about to use it to make things other than what can be grilled. Breakfast, anyone? The other accessory I found interesting was a crisper basket you can use so you can air fry and grill at the same time.
Another great addition to the Ninja line.

Automatic duplex - what luxury
on October 18, 2022
Posted by: ladilyn
Now that it is up and running, I'm liking it so far. Getting it up and running was an issue. Actually, it wasn't getting the printer up, it was getting the "Smart" part to work properly. Because this will be used by a number of people but will be used from one computer, I wanted the app on our computer rather than on one person's mobile phone. The app seemed to have difficulty with this. It seems it wanted to do a bunch of stuff at one time which would stop other things from happening. Overall, it took a bit over three hours to get this set-up. Since I'm used to HP Printers being more in the "turn it on and go" category, this through me. Then again, this has more features than my previous printers so that is probably what it seems so strange to me. The first issue I encountered was the paper tray. It confused me. There are lines that indicate where different size paper goes but, even though it talks about the size guide, it doesn't appear that you should move the length. I've only used 8 1/2 x 11 paper and it works so I guess that is okay. I like the paper is front loading as it makes it much easier to change and load paper. It was easy to connect it to WIFI once I switched to manual instead of allowing it to hook up to wifi from the computer. Where issues started was in signing up for the instant ink and the "Smart HP" printing and I'm not sure I have it all set yet but figured I'd learn as I needed the application. What I think is brilliant is the printing. It is quite crisp and clear, doesn't take long to print and, to my complete delight, will print duplex automatically. No more having to print one side and manually turn the paper over to print on the second side. This is huge for the work we do and a main reason for getting this printer. It is definitely living up to my expectations. The packaging was great. There wasn't an over abundance of it and the plastic the printer came in had a handle so it the printer was easily taken out of the box. There wasn't a ton of extra tape keeping everything in place and yet, nothing moved. I had no worries that anything happened during shipping. So far, I'd definitely recommend this printer, figuring smarter folks than me will figure out HP Smart a lot easier that I did.

This LG mini hi-fi system has a USB port to read flash drive files and includes a remote control for convenience.

Will this speaker be loud enough for parties in an apartment/dorm room setting?

The sound was loud enough to reach through closed doors in our home so I would say, yes, definitely loud enough.
