.... for the 'Eventual' completist. As someone who was late to the Blu-Ray party, I picked up this minimalist box set for a great price in order to upgrade my Star Trek film collection and finally retire my theatrical Next Gen DVDs. Would I have liked to have seen director's cuts and new bonus features? Absolutely! Maybe that'll happen when Star Trek's 100th Anniversary rolls around.

It's a comedy, it's a road movie, it's an actor's tour de force, it's a message movie, it's a drama, it's a 'strong female lead' movie, it's an indie film, it's lighthearted, it's believable. What Grandma lacks in originality it more than makes up for in its cohesiveness. Better than the sum of its parts - possibly due to its short running time [82 minutes] - and definitely worth seeing.

Not Tarantino's best but Classic Tarantino nonetheless. Solid writing, amazing cinematography and more than able cast are Hateful Eight's strong points. My primary rub with the film is its excruciatingly overlong first hour. Was this film designed as an exercise in restraint, or perhaps has Tarantino become so confident in the appeal of his brand that he knows the audience is guaranteed to wait it out?
The Force is strong with this six-disc collection featuring Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace}, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, and Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

.... the ultra-compact design of the packaging is pretty annoying. For the price however, I'm satisfied, at least, temporarily until a massive feature laden release makes its way to the consumer. I'm guessing that's five to ten years from now, when all nine episodes can be bundled together into an overpriced collection that we'll all pay too much for because this release will contain remastered and original versions, plus a dearth of 'newly discovered' deleted scenes, outtakes, and what not. But, I'll unplug the consumption grump and simply state that tolerable episodes I and II, and effective episode III look and sound great on Blu-Ray. Nothing new to see here but enjoyable nonetheless.
Join Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) on their quest to defeat the villainous Darth Vader in this six-disc collection featuring Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi}.

.... the ultra-compact design of the packaging is pretty annoying. No, these are not the versions you saw in the theater. As a matter of fact, you've never actually seen Episode IV released in ANY format that is the same. The original big screen version did not contain the subtitle "Episode IV". Every version released on home video has been modified at least in that regard. But, I digress, massively. I left the theater thinking, "I think I just witnessed the re-birth of 60 year old franchise." The Peanuts Movie took no real chances placing strong emphasis in honoring the spirit of Charles Schulz's beloved strip. We can only wonder what this film would look like if J.J. Abrams had directed it ;)
I picked this up on Blu-Ray so I can show it my grandkids - if I ever have any. Nice bonus features, looks AMAZING on Blu-Ray.

The book was a story in two halves, and so is this film. Fortunately, both halves work well but it's the first stanza that shows the film's real heart and imagination.

Deserving of every award it won [and more], Spotlight is well balanced, VERY well acted, well written and perfectly paced. Mark Ruffalo almost steals it.

SPOTLIGHT got the spotlight, but this is good, too

If it's from Sony Pictures Classics, I'm taking a look. With SPOTLIGHT taking the movie about investigative new media slot in cinemas in 2015, this film was sadly overlooked. Cate Blanchett is her character, but when is she NOT?

Better than MOONRAKER [whew!] but still not THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, Roger Moore's fifth adventure in the James Bond suit is a solid, if not outstanding, spy flick. Classic Bond theme, less than memorable Bond girl. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could but not 4. Looks good on Blu-Ray.
