This is my first Josh Ritter CD but I had heard several cuts from the album on streaming radio. Overall this is a very good album. The songs "Getting Ready to Get Down", "Homecoming", and "A Big Enough Sky" will have you tapping your toes.

I am a big fan of Brandi Carlile's The Story so I was excited when I heard about this cover with its' outstanding lineup of artists. I was somewhat disappointed. There are a few very good cuts (The Avett Brothers, Anderson East, Margo Price, and Adele) but overall the CD is just fair. My suggestion would be to get the songs that you want rather than purchasing the entire CD.

This is an enjoyable CD that has a combination of covers and new material. It definitely has a feel of 1960's and 70''s R&B and soul. I would have given it a higher rating except for the political "Just How Low" track. If you want to make a political album, fine, but this song is just out of place in this otherwise good album.

Good follow up album

This is a good follow-up to his first solo album. I believe that Broken Halos will become one of his signature songs. I was delighted to see that Mike Henderson was listed as co-writer on four of the tracks (I'm a big fan of Mr. Henderson). It is a little disappointing that there are only nine songs on this album. However, I understand that he will be releasing a companion album this fall. I am looking forward to it.
