Because of the room size and furniture placement, I had to locate our monitor in one particular spot. This spot resulted in a wall stud being behind the exact middle (center) of the monitor. The wall mounts that span only two studs would have caused me to have to move the monitor either 8 inches left or 8 inches to the right. The lateral adjustment on those mounts would not compensate exactly, and we could not move the furniture in the room 8 inches either way. The only way to center the wall bracket on that center stud was to get one big enough to span that stud and the ones on either side (all 3 studs). The Peerless SmartMount wall bracket was wide enough to do this, so it worked perfectly. The bracket is secured with 6 lag bolts (2 per stud), and is definately there to stay! I am concerned about earthquakes out here, and I didn't trust the table stand to provide the security we needed. I was able to hang our monitor exactly where we wanted, and I am totally happy with this wall mount. It did exactly what I needed to have done!
What's great about it: Wall bracket is wide enough to span 3 wall studs.
What's not so great: The instructions could be more helpful on a couple of points.
