The creative talent has assembled a very unique underworld and cast of characters here that feels developed and at the same time knowable. The rules are all very clear. This film has some of the best action sequences of anything made this decade. Some amazing stunt work. The 4K UHD disc provides truly amazing picture and sound quality.
Another solid Tim Burton adaptation. Eva Green shines as the titular character, and the film is thrilling without getting bogged down in time travel theory. The 4K UHD blu-ray provides a reference quality picture and sound experience.
With most of silent cinema having been lost over the years, it's cause for excitement when a label like Olive releases such titles is with cleaned up, semi-restored transfers. While the feature is short by modern standards at around 70 minutes, it packs in a great amount of action and some nice landscape shots. Good A/V. Recommended to fans of silent cinema.
One of the better horror films to be released in the last couple of years, along with The Green Room. A trio of teenagers decides to break into a blind man's house to steel his fortune - and has the tables turned against them by the inhabitant. There are twists a plenty (perhaps one too many for some) and suspense and tension expertly executed. The disc features a fine transfer and good sound. The standout amongst the extras in a good audio commentary.
A boy heads west to make his future. Boy meets girls, boy loses girl, boy...well you'll to watch the film to learn the rest. It's a bittersweet coming of age story that doesn't really beak any cliches but differentiates itself enough to rise above the pack. The cinematography is the real winner here, and KStew's performance is solid. Blu-ray looks and sounds great.
This movie seems to have gotten lost at the multiplex this summer in the midst of kid friendly animated stuff and the latest comic book movies, but it happens to be the best war film released this year. Perhaps because the protagonists aren't Americans it got overlooked. A look at a group of Czech partisans during the earlier phase of World War 2 and their attempt to assassinate the leading SS official in the territory. The price of resistance ends up being very high indeed. Shot on film, the blu-ray presents the image impeccably well, and the gun shots ring out with deafening authority on the soundtrack. Definitely a must see.
Picked this up recently and gave it a whirl. Transfer is very solid, with nice picture quality and good sound. Good title to put on your Halloween viewing list.
This is a solid 80s genre title involving a love triangle and demolition derby drivers. The disc has a solid video transfer, and the audio quality is fine too.
The disc is almost demo level for a blu-ray. Great picture quality and audio quality. The film itself is entertaining and provides a nice twist on the original story. Purists may have problems, but it's a nice way to spend 100 minutes.
The last of the road movies starring those rascals Hope & Crosby. While it never reaches the heights of some of the earlier films in the series, it still has some funny moments and is worthwhile for fans of the stars. The still features a very solid transfer for a film of this age.
