Rain Man is one those movies that you knew you loved when you first saw it, then kind of just forgot about it for a while. Over time, you knew you liked it, but never thought about why. I hadn't seen Rain Man in over a decade when I bought this. After watching it again, the performances and story blew me away once again. If you haven't seen this film in a while, give it another view. You'll remember why you loved it.
The Sandlot came and went with little fanfare, but as time goes on it has developed quite a following. Rarely a day goes by where I'm not muttering "You're killing me, Smalls" to somebody. If I had to put a label on the movie, I'd call it "The Little Rascals" meets "Stand By Me". A great coming of age story!
I missed this movie when it first came out. It just seemed like another action movie. Not that anything was wrong with that. There was just so much else out there to see. So I passed on it. When the sequel was announced, I decided to give it a try. Boy, was I miffed that I didn't see this sooner. It's a lot of fun! If you like comic book movies, or any of Robert Rodriguez's previous work, you will like this.
My kids flipped over this movie when we saw it in theaters so it was a no brainer that we'd be buying the Blu-ray. What I love about it most is that it's not just for kids. There are many jokes for the adults that may go right over your little one's head. Lots of nods to other movie/comic franchises that will keep you smiling throughout the movie. Also, Mark Mothersbaugh's music score is top notch. I'd highly recommend picking up the soundtrack CD as well.
Sister Hazel does not, as of yet, have a Greatest Hits CD. It seems they prefer to showcase their best material in the form of live albums. With this one, rather than capture one performance at one location, they recorded throughout their latest tour and put the best recordings from all across the US on here. 20 songs, 20 cities... hence the title "20 Stages" I've been to several Sister Hazel shows and this CD captures the feeling of their show almost verbatim. You really feel like you are there. What really sets this live CD album apart from their others are the liner notes. Included are a few words about the origins of the songs by the songwriters. It really made me appreciate many of them a whole lot more.
A collection of Halloween episodes of TV shows from the 60s through the 90s. I love sets like this! There are several Christmas compilations out there. I am glad that the makers of this set saw enough of an interest to put this out. I hope to see more like it. The quality of the episodes vary depending on the show and when it originally came out. Some are better than others, but they are all definitely watchable. The thing I love most about Halloween episodes of TV shows is that they usually take a short detour from the norm of the show and even sprinkle a little bit of supernatural into it from time to time. I look forward to watching this DVD (and hopefully more like it soon) for years to come.
