Grabs your interest immediately. A woman goes to prison for something she did 10 years ago. This series is about her "adventures" while incarcerated. The characters are well developed. Interesting plot.

A great lens for landscapes and closeups

I love not having to change lenses to go from a wide angle shot to one needing a telephoto. The 18mm gives me an extremely wide angle. I use it for landscapes or for getting the "whole picture" at sporting events. The 300 mm telephoto zooms in to capture incredible details of things at a distance. I love taking pictures of birds, flowers, creatures, sporting events and grandchildren. I can stand four feet away from a flower, zoom in, and get a shot that looks like it was taken with a macro lens. The vibration reduction helps to give me a sharp picture; allowing me to take photos without the use of a tripod in many situations.

What's great about it: Sharp photos hand holding this 18mm wide angle to 300 mm telephoto.
What's not so great: A bit on the heavy side if carrying it all day. It is pricey.

I was looking for a camera that would fit in a pocket or purse that would have high quality photos. A short shutter lag was a priority. While I wish there was no lag at all, this camera is pretty fast. I have a Nikon DSLR, but it isn't always practical to take it with me for some occasions. I turn the flash off unless I really want it. The flash pops up on top, right where you hold the camera. When it is set to automatic, I constantly have my index finger in the way. I'm training myself to hold the camera in a different way, so that my finger is not on the top at all. The battery doesn't last very long. I had to change batteries after 111 photos when I had the camera set so it focuses constantly when the shutter is half way down. This setting, though, was perfect for action shots at the Packer Game. Virtually every photo was in focus even though I was sitting about 60 yards away from the action.
What's great about it: Small enough to fit in purse. Manual settings available.
What's not so great: Flash pops up right where my left index finger holds the camera.

Is the 18-300 prone to "lens creep" like the 18-200?
I have not had a problem with lens creep on the 18-300. I also have a Tamaron lens, lens creep is terrible on that one. I sent it to fix it and it still does it.
