What happened?

The new Nickelback was one of my most anticipated releases of the year, their last three releases are some of my favorite albums. Unfortunately this is the biggest disappointment, what happened? Auto tune, poor mans reggae, a rap section? I'm all for bands expanding and changing up but this sounds like they tried real hard to be something they are not. I'm sorry to say but Nickelback's hot streak has come to an end.

Gary Clark Jr. Burst on to the Blues Scene a couple years back with a great debut album, seems strange he would follow it up with a live album...I am so glad he did! This is a two disc set that gives you some of the rawest blues I've heard in a long time and he backs it up with the most incredibly soulful voice. Blues with a touch of Prince if I dare say in a few places. If you are like me, this album will and has received repeated listens since purchased. I don't usually count live albums in my top albums but this is an exception and right now is lodged as my top album of 2014!

Not that he ever went away, but it's been a lot longer than usual between studio releases for Mr. Bonamassa. The difference here is he had a hand in writing everything (barring a short Hendrix instrumental).
It took a few listens to really appreciate how good this album is, each song has a lot going on, but it continues to grow on you listen after listen! Oh Beautiful and the title track stand out right from the start. Joe B's guitar playing is stellar throughout and his vocals have become stronger with each release.
Different Shades will easily be in my top 5 for the year!

Bob Seger returns with his first full album since "Face the Promise" and he doesn't disappoint! This disc offers some great tunes and some ok tunes. The great tunes really stand out and rank among his classics! The ok songs just don't do it for me, thankfully there are more higher standard songs to listen to. If he decides this is his last album, he can hold his head high.

40 years was worth the wait!

Queen has always been one of my favorite bands. Having witnessed a few clips of the Rainbow concerts, I always said the whiole show must be out there somewhere. After 40 years of waiting it's here! And it is great and fresh! Two discs recorded less than a year apart, show a band with energy, confidence and the ready to become Mega stars attitude shining through. This will remain in heavy rotation for a while.

The Gaslight Anthem never seem to disappoint !

Another solid release from a band that should be huge. This album took a few listens to get into as they took a slight left turn with their style. But. After a couple listens it's still got the stories, melodies, and hooks you expect from Gaslight.
Thi will remain in heavy rotation for a long time to come.
