Not for iMac El Capitan 11/2015

Verified Purchase:Yes
We have used Kaspersky for years on the old Windows machine and it was fine. However, when we purchased the new iMac 27" and received Kaspersky we researched and found that the new machines were freezing up due to some problem with Kaspersky. Thank goodness we didn't install Kaspersky on this brand new iMac - El Capitan (November 2015). We even called Kaspersky and they didn't have a fix yet. So everything we read said to go to WebRoot for virus protection. Best Buy swapped out Kaspersky for WebRoot for us and everything is good. I would give Kaspersky 5 stars for Windows but 0 stars for iMac because after people started complaining about the freezing up - the product should not have been provided in the new iMac purchase.

With 14.7 million pixels, the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display is the most powerful iMac ever. It features quad-core Intel® processors, the latest AMD graphics, a 1TB Fusion Drive, and great built-in apps. All in the same ultrathin design that's just 5mm at the edge.

Goodbye Windows

We have been Windows users forever, probably back to the 80's/90's. Yes, that puts us in our 60's. When it came time to move to Windows 8/10 - we just didn't want to anymore. Tired of dealing with viruses, updates, etc. Everyone we knew with an Apple/Mac had been very happy We read and questioned a lot. Including a Geek Squad friend which simply told us "Once you go Mac, you never go back". That pretty much sealed the deal. We took the plunge about a month ago and are overwhelmingly happy. We even bought a Visual iMac book from amazon instead of the dummies kind. It's actually been quite easy to navigate after the first week. The screen is beautiful. The system is fast. And no more tower on the desk to collect dust with the fan constantly running. We really checked out the solid state disk drive before making the decision. Thinking about not having that tower with a physical hard drive and CD/DVD drives was a little hard to imagine but it turns out that we don't miss them at all. We do have an external drive that we just plug into the USB port in the back which allowed us to move all of the data via CD from Windows to iMac. One Note: This brand new version "El Capitan" came with a one year free Kapersky virus protection but there is apparently a bug in that software which has not been fixed yet which meant that the version Best Buy gave us wouldn't run on "El Capitan". We researched and found that WebRoot virus protection would work so Best Buy refunded us on Kaspersky and gave us WebRoot instead - No problem! The wireless keyboard and mouse are really nice too. We just had to get used to not having the numbers on the right side of the keyboard. And the nice little tone when mail comes in or the machine goes to sleep is very pleasing as well. Extremely happy with the purchase!
