Inspire creativity with this HP Active Pen. Compatible with select HP laptops and tablets, this stylus has 255 pressure levels, ensuring higher stroke sensitivity for a natural drawing and writing experience. The automatic shutoff feature of this HP Active Pen conserves battery life, and a magnetic clip lets you keep it close at hand.

Doesn't work as well as other styluses

Verified Purchase:Yes
I bought for use with the HP Spectre x360. HP has done an excellent job on the design and functionality of that laptop -- I am really pleased with it. :)
Anyway, despite initially reading some negative reviews about the HP active stylus, I bought anyway since it was the HP brand. However, as other reviews mention, I had the same experience of requiring excessive pressure in order to write on the screen.
As eluded by some other reviews, the Dell Active Stylus for Dell Tablets (750-AAGN - rev 03) worked much better on the x360. I bought one of these as well to compare, and the sensitivity was significantly better, and never cut-out like the HP stylus would.
I ended up returning the HP active stylus (for store credit -- thanks Best Buy allowing past the 14 day return policy), and I am much happier with the Dell stylus -- model 750-AAGN. Palm rejection and variable pressure sensitivity all work really well on the HP Spectre x360 digitizer touch screen.

Does it come with batteries?

No mention of type of battery used. One review mentioned installing batteries but no mention of type or number. So, are batteries supplied with pen or do they have to be purchased before pen will work?
Yes, it comes with a single AAAA battery -- required for operation. (Yep, quadruple A, so not as common as AAA.) Many tech stores now carry them though, and they are common for use in active styluses, such as the Dell Active Stylus -- which works better than the HP one.
