got this truck after seeing it at my local best buy and doing a little bit of research on it. It had mostly positive reviews so I decided to jump on it as it was not super expensive and I was looking into a new hobby. I had never owned an rc vehicle before and after looking into buying the fast and furious monster truck charger decided that the cost increase was worth it. I've had it for a little bit now and getting other rc's and becoming a little more versed on what hobby grade rcs are and what toy rcs are. I have come up with this rating. It is an awesome little truck and is a lot of fun. The battery lasts quite a bit for what I was expecting and the driving I did. It lasted about 45 minutes.
The driving is solid, great acceleration and the handling is responsive but it tends to flip over easily. That is my only con on the vehicle itself. The other problem is getting parts. None of my local hobby shops carry parts, so if anything breaks its going to be online ordering only. Unfortunately Best Buy only sells the cars. So if you're looking to get into the hobby you could do worse. If you're looking for a toy for the kids I would suggest getting a toy that's half the price. It is fast and I wouldn't recommend indoor play unless you want something broken. Also I would recommend a second battery that you can find on other major online retailers namely the one named after the largest river in South America. I would get this over the larger volcano also sold at best buy.

Got these on sale to add some color and rep my love for gears. Missed out on the gears elite controller so this was my way of getting in on that. Nice coloring feel good except for where the gears logo is embossed it isn't the most comfortable but i can deal with it. I wouldn't recommend it for $30 but 10 is good.

Pretty truck, pretty poor construction

Purchased this truck after reading reviews online and the price being comparable to other retailers. I purchased it, when I got it home and put it together. I did the initial run and immediately noticed this loud clanking noise. Even my wife noticed the noise and wondered if that was normal. I have a couple of other rc cars, even the volcano 18 also by redcat that I got from best buy. It definitely didn't make that noise. It sounded like when you try to start a car with a dead battery.
After returning it and replacing it back at the store I did the same things and same noise. I called redcat support to see if i could get some help and they told me to take the motor out and see if the gear mesh was ok. I don't feel that for a brand new out of the package vehicle I should have to be doing anything other than minor adjustments. Tightening a few bolts. So from my experience avoid this car. I severely doubt that I had such the misfortune to get 2 lemons.
