Not the notorious bomb it is remembered to be.

"Isthar" became a punchline almost before it received its release back in the 80's. Its production and cost overruns, Elaine May's insistence on particulars--what was envisioned as a sort of updated "Road" picture spiraled into a overproduced, very expensive comedy that received very lukewarm reviews and little BO. I saw it back in the day and rather liked it.Viewing some years later, I like it even better. Yes, it is a bit of a mess and over produced, but at heart it is a dry and very funny comedy with great performances from Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty as the dumb and dumber wannabe songwriters, Rogers and Clark. Jack Weston and especially Charles Grodin are terrific in support. A very underrated film--not a "bomb" at all.
The PQ & AQ are adequate but Vittorio Storaro' cinematography is let down. There are no extras whatsoever .

One of the greatest of World War II movies and certainly the best and most realistic submarine films ever, "Das Boot" is also an amazing technical feat also. The cramped, dank & claustrophobic setting of a WWII German U-boat is completely realized in the set design and Petersen's direction of the camera and great ensemble. Jurgen Prochnow gives a incisive performance as the beleaguered Captain.
The PQ & AQ are very good, if not great. This was originally a mini-series for German TV (catch to full thing if you can.) I justwish that there were more extras.

I have never had the battery on my d5100 die on me during a shoot. However, during a few extended video productions, I saw the battery power get uncomfortably low. Having a backup provides a measure of comfort. It is not a "fun" accessory, but a necessary one. It works great in my Nikon d5100.
