Our 6 yr old Samsung 63" plasma died like many other Samsung owners': screen went black and TV emitted an annoying, constant clicking sound. Coincidentally, the same thing happened to my brother-in-law's Samsung about a month before. Been wanting a larger TV (at the time, 63" was largest available for purchase), so not terribly disappointed. I considered 2 logical options: Samsung 75" 4K or Samsung 75" 1080p. I continue to think Samsung has the best picture of all the larger TVs (esp. compared to Sharp, which incidentally is getting out of the business) so key criterion was Samsung. Also wanted larger than what I had so looked at 75" and 90". 90" was $15-20K: too much for a TV. Unfortunately, I thought the 4K meant 4 thousand lines of resolution, not 4 thousand dollars! Despite being double the price of the 1080p, I reasoned the $4K 4K was worth it because it will hopefully last a while and programming (esp NFL games) will be in 4K soon enough. The 1080p would be already outdated from inception. Sort of like buying an older model iPhone - need the latest features if you're gonna keep it a while. Hope this helps!
