Crystal Castles is made up of two members: Ethan Kath who creates the music in each track and Alice Glass the main vocalist. They make vocally inspired electronic music. Each track is different ranging calming and gentle vocals and instruments to loud distorted and abrasive instruments with screaming vocals pushed to the point of clipping the audio. Most people will find listening to the calmer tracks to be enjoyable while being turned off to the loud abrasive nature of some of the other tracks. I personally enjoyed the louder tracks, especially the transition on the album from celestica to doe deer. Its such a sudden change of pace and i love it. For the average listener some parts can be unappealing and noisy but i recommend giving it multiple listens to really get into the harder tracks. The cd is a jewelcase with a mini fold out booklet inside, very nice looking but a bit of a dull design, the disk itself looks nice though. Id strongly recommend this record (8/10). Favourite Track: Doe Deer, Made of Chalk

clipping. are a trio that produces experimental hip hop music (one member being a producer, one member being a harsh noise artist, and the front man being a rapper). The album is basically a mix of hip hop/rap and harsh noise/power electronics. At first it may sound like a very odd combination but I would say it is definitely and album worth picking up. The harsh noise powerfully backing each track with the deep gritty vocals of the rapper and catchy tracks make this album one of my favourite rap records. It can be very hard for the average rap listener to get into the music do to the tracks being backed by harsh noise (which can be irritating to the ears for many), but I would still recommend at least giving them a try by listening to the album digitally before thinking about purchasing the CD. The CD itself is very nicely packaged in a neat 6 panel digipak case, very pretty to look at. Overall I'd give this record a solid 8 out of 10. Favourite track: body & blood.
