Star Wars Music without John Williams? Yes!

As a fan of Rogue One the film, I also appreciated the music behind it. Michael Giacchino did an excellent job of capturing the John Williams essence. That's not to say that he didn't need to borrow some bits and pieces here and there for him to point back to some of the recognizable aspects of the film's characters. However, just like Joel McNeely before him with his "Shadows of the Empire" soundtrack, it can be said that the music for the franchise is still in good hands even if Mr. Williams is not there to create his masterpieces.

A Worthy Addition to the Star Wars Collection

As a fan of most things Star Wars (I have to admit that the Star Wars Holiday Special was a big let-down when I saw it on CBS all those years ago, and it does not improve with age), this movie shows the great potential for spin-off movies for the franchise. It works itself in seamlessly with the rest of the films as it introduces new characters while utilizing established characters within the lore. The cast did an excellent job. It's just too bad that *spoilers*. ;-)

The Classic with Extra Vault Material and More!

This album when released in 1984 began my lifetime appreciation of Prince and his music. Not much more can be said about the main disc of this 4-disc set, but the extras are well worth it. My VHS of the Syracuse concert is slowly fading away, so the concert disc alone is well worth it. The Single Edits/B-Sides disc is a nice addition, but one of the main selling points was the Vault material. I was surprised at the version of "Possessed" that was included, however most people would recognize it as it was played as an instrumental in the background during the film "Purple Rain". This disc also let me down just a little. "The Dance Electric" is missing the searing guitar portions as well as the voices of Wendy and Lisa (don't believe the liner notes because they have inaccuracies here and there). All-in-all, though, this is a must-have for Prince fans.
