The Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Robot combines an ultra-powerful vacuum with Sonic Mopping for a complete clean from start to finish. First, it’s an ultra-powerful whole home vacuum on carpets and floors that empties its own dustbin. Second, it’s an ultra-powerful vacuum that sonic mops hard floors at the same time. It features Matrix Clean, which allows your robot to clean from multiple angles using a precision grid ensuring no spots are missed on all your floor types. No cleaning detail is unmet with this robot’s corner and edge cleaning, self-cleaning brushroll for pet hair, and HEPA filtration trapping 99.97% of dust and allergens into the bagless base. With Precision Home Mapping, the robot uses its 360 LIDAR vision to scan your home and build a detailed map, enabling fully autonomous movement. This also allows your robotic vacuum to detect and avoid objects in its path day or night. It creates a precise home map in the SharkClean app so you can select specific areas to clean on-demand, initiate Matrix Clean, and set cleaning schedules from anywhere. Utilize the app to set custom carpet and no-go zones for complete control of where the robot cleans and doesn’t clean. This robot masterfully integrates Matrix Clean with vacuuming, mopping, CleanEdge, and self-emptying to give you the ultimate floor cleaning machine.

Great little helper with floor duties
on September 26, 2022
Posted by: jago
One of my favorite things to do is not vacuum, and these past few days I have had the pleasure of using this Shark AI Ultra vacuum to do just that. To be honest, this is my fourth Shark Robot vacuum that I have had and every time they keep improving over the previous generation. The first one I had did not have any smarts, it just bounced around randomly and would eventually clean the entire area somehow. Now we have a model that you can make a map of your house and you can direct it to go somewhere and avoid other places in the app without having to use magnetic boundary strips. Shark has come a long way in that short amount of time, and I am impressed. Still, I think this robot lacks a few features that other brands may have, but I am ok with that. The LIDAR navigation is good, and it will avoid most obstacles that are higher than a few inches, it will still get caught up on shoes or my dogs food bowl. Setting a no-go zone in the app I can avoid the dog bowl, but not shoes since my kids will leave them wherever they happen to take them off, so you do have to be vigilant with picking up small items before setting the little robot off to do its thing.
Setting up the robot in the Shark app is very easy and you do have to charge it for a few hours before you can set it off to make a map of the floor plan of your house. The charging station now includes a landing pad that sits under the base and a pad for the robot to rest on. I am not quite sure why Shark has included the landing pad, but you can choose not to use it if you don’t want to. UPDATE: I believe the pad is there so you can keep the robot in mopping mode all the time and the base will protect the floor from the mop pad. Also, in the app you can set the name of your rooms, this allows for you to use google or Alexa to send the robot to clean a room if you use the default names in the app. I was not able to get my robot to be recognized by either device, but my previous Shark IQ robot does work this way. I am reaching out to Shark for assistance with this and I hope to have it resolved. Another feature of the app is to set up high traffic zones and as I mentioned before, the no-go zones to avoid things that the robot may get stuck on. The app does allow for multiple robots which is great for when you have multiple floors in your home, you can just easily toggle between your little guys and send them off. The map also offers a history of cleaning from the last 30 days, and if you dive deeper into those days, you can see an actual map or maps of where the robot went.
In the box Shark has included the base station that will hold up to 60 days of dust, a self-empty dust bin (vacuuming), a Vac& Mop dust bin (mopping), an extra side bristle, and two mopping pads that are washable. I have to mention that attaching the mop pad is very cool to do, there is a little plastic channel on the bottom and the mopping pad has a cord on the end that routes in the channel and Velcro will hold the flat part down. The nice feature about the mopping mode, it that it will also vacuum up dust before it mops it, so you don’t have to vacuum beforehand. However, it will not self-empty with the Vac & Mop dust bin on, but it will go back to the docking station and charge facing the opposite direction, so there are two separate points of charging. Another innovative feature of this device is the little “edge clean” feature that is on the left side of the robot, it will do an edge clean after the clean pattern is done for the room and this blows air on your baseboards and is supposed to dislodge dust from there to allow the robot to suck it up. A few odd things I have noted on the cleaning pattern is that it will not clean along the wall that the base station is placed on. No matter what I did, reset robot, remapped the area, etc., it would not go within about a foot from the wall that the base was against. Every other room it will clean the full room. Another thing was the cleaning pattern was sometimes random and the robot would do part of the room, then dart diagonally across the room and start cleaning in a different area. This did not affect the overall performance since the entire room will get cleaned, just an odd thing I noticed. The mopping feature is nice to have with my hard floors. Shark includes a small bottle of the mop cleaning solution, and you fill up the water reservoir to the water line and the remainder of the solution. As the robot moves with the mopping pad on it will use sonic mopping that moves the pad back and forth to help scrub the floor. I found that this works fairly well but will not get stuck on gunk from the floor, but I don’t think anything automated out there would either. Cleaning the mop pad is easy, I just hand wash it and it comes out clean, but you can toss it in the washing machine if you like since they are durable.
Right now, I keep this robot strictly in mopping mode, and I let it do its thing every day on my floors. This has helped greatly with keeping the floors clean between the two kids and two dogs. I have not noticed a huge hair build up on the brush roll, but a few pieces here and there get tangled on it. Shark does make some good products and in the past the customer service has been great so you can buy with confidence.

Officially licensed microSD card for your Switch
on September 21, 2022
Posted by: jago
Everyone can use more digital storage on the Nintendo switch, thanks to the fact that Nintendo did not endow them with very much space to begin with. I have the OLED version with 64GB and that is not near enough for the games that I have. I acquired the SanDisk 256GB Fortnite MicroSDXC card. I have Fortnite installed on the card and when I purchased this microSD card, it has a code for an Angular Flow Wrap to use in game. This card is rated for speeds up to 100 MB/s read and writing speed of up to 90 MB/s. My Nintendo OLED switch has not had any issues with speed that I can tell, and everything runs smooth as it does on the internal memory. I was running out of space on my 128GB card, and I did search online on how to safely transfer my data so I would recommend doing that so you don’t lose data, but if you are putting this in a new switch, then obviously you would not have to worry about transferring data. I have a laptop that has a built in microSD card reader so I didn’t have to use a full-sized SD card adapter and SanDisk does not include one of those so you may have to find one to transfer data. This is a good option if you are looking for an officially license microSD card to use in your switch.

Wolf in sheep's clothing
on September 18, 2022

This laptop has really been a great all-around laptop for my day to day use as well as able to handle the latest AAA titles with relative ease it seems. Everything I have thrown at this thing has been so buttery smooth and I am impressed with it.
The specs of this thing are incredible, but there are a few downsides as well. I will start with those first. The RAM not being fully upgradeable is a bummer and the most you can have and still keep the dual channel is what it comes with. 8GB of DDR5 is soldered onto the motherboard so you are stuck with that. My second complaint is the lack of an Ethernet LAN adapter port, I had to go out and purchase a USB to Ethernet adapter and that leads me to my third complaint of not enough USB Type A ports, there are only two and that is another bummer. My fourth complaint is the placement of the power/fingerprint reader button. It is very close to the monitor and if you have big fingers or long nails, good luck using that. Lastly, the lack of being able to add additional internal storage, although still not a deal breaker, is unfortunate.
Now for the good, the 2560x1600 resolution screen is beautiful! It is nice and bright, and the colors seem very accurate to my untrained eye. The 165Hz refresh rate responded quickly and I have not noticed any motion blur while watching movies or playing COD. The included 1TB SSD is speedy and I have noticed no issues with it. The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor is one of the main reasons this laptop has been able to handle multiple excel spreadsheets and other processor intensive tasks that I have asked it to do. Not one slowdown that I have noticed. The Radeon RX 6800S 8GB graphics card has been fantastic as well. I have a gaming laptop from another manufacturer that has a competitor chip inside (3070 model with 8GB) and this Radeon RX is just slightly slower that that one, but still its not that much slower. The 3D mark TimeSpy scores are just hundreds off. I mentioned earlier that I wished this has a third USB type A port, but it does have two USB Type C ports located on the left side. The right side has the 3.5mm headphone jack, a full-sized SD card reader (nice!) and a physical button to disable the camera (very nice). And to round out the list of ports, power and USB type A ports are on the back. Trackpad has a glass surface and is fast and responsive. The power button does support windows hello, but the built-in 1080p camera does not from what I can figure out. Battery life is rated for about 8 hours, but I have only been able to get to the 6.5-hour mark and if I played a game or two, then you can count on that number going down dramatically. The down firing speakers are good enough for me, but I did notice that they don’t get too loud. Lenovo also offers the option via their Lenovo Vantage software of upgrading and extending the 1-year warranty for very reasonable prices. I plan on getting the 4 full years of coverage, so I won’t ever have to worry about this since it even covers accidental damage or spills.
Over-all, the sexy slim design will fit in well with any business environment and the 4.51 lbs. is not too bad to carry around with you. This is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and your fellow employees won’t know how much of a monster this PC is.

Smart low cost printer
on September 14, 2022
Posted by: jago
This Epson Workforce 2930 All in one printer can easily handle your day-to-day printing, scanning, and faxing needs. It uses the Claria 232 ink cartridges, and they are reasonably priced, so printing full color prints will not set you back too much. Black and white printing will print at a speed of 10 pages a minute and 5 with using color, but if you decide to print two sided, then the speed is slowed down as well so keep that in mind. The paper tray will hold 100 sheets and the auto document feeder is handy to use when you have to scan multiple pages. The Epson SmartScan software will help you organize your scans so you can eliminate the paper files that you may have and go all digital, the .pdf documents you create can also be made searchable. I was not able to test the faxing feature as I do not have an analog phone line in my house, but its nice to know that I could use that in the future if I wanted to. This is a low cost, but high-quality printer and I have had a lot of luck with Epson printers in the past and I am sure this one will be no different. One of my favorite features is the ability to print from my smart phone directly to the printer. The initial set up of the printer onto my wireless network was easy and I did not have any issues. Overall, I think this is a great printer, for a low cost, that will give you years of trouble free service.

Easy and fast setup
on September 3, 2022
Posted by: jago
The Linksys Atlas is a Wi-Fi 6 Dual-Band Mesh Router system that is very easy to set up using the Linksys App. Wi-Fi 6 is the latest standard that increases the speed even further. This is not the first Linksys system that I have owned, and the setup experience has always been simple and straight forward. The individual nodes fit in with just about any décor and have a simple modern look that blends in with its surroundings. The two nodes easily provide coverage throughout my 2300 sq ft. house including the back and front yards and garage area. They are rated to cover a 4000 sq. foot area. The AX3000 version comes with two regular size nodes, and you can easily add additional nodes if you need them. Linksys packaging is great, and I have come to expect it from them with everything they sell.
Set up: I easily connected the main node via the RJ-45 cable that was included in the packaging and just followed the set-up procedures in the App. The second node was easily connected in the app by just following the directions. You do have the option to wire them with Ethernet if you wish, but mine was a little far away for that to be logical.
Performance: My cable modem speed is 400mb down and 20mb up. I am seeing speeds faster than that in the times that I have checked but these can actually handle much faster speeds. I have not noticed any slowdowns or buffering while multiple devices are streaming in our house either. I have about 38 (50 devices are supported with this model) wireless devices that have been connected and as far as I can tell, not one of them has had any issues. I have attempted to max out the system with multiple devices streaming videos with no issues to report there.
Features: The app allows you to easily manage your system with some basic functions, however, if you visit the web interface, you have many more options, including the option to create separate 2.4 and 5GHz networks. This feature comes in handy for most of my IoT devices that require a 2.4GHz network to function. You can also set up some priority devices that you want to have the best speed possible, so I just set up my wife’s work PC and her phone to avoid any issues. These also give you the ability to set up a guest Wi-Fi and you can toggle it on or off using Alexa. My guests have been impressed with that feature. Also, you can keep a device from connecting to the network via the apps Parental Controls, and you can manage each device separately with a pause, schedule a pause, or block specific websites features.
Over-all, I am very impressed with the speed and ease of use so far with these and you can easily add additional nodes as your needs require them. I have tested speed and number of devices with out any issues so far and I haven’t noticed any odd network drops or coverage problems. For the price, this system provides some good features and the fact that each node has at least 3 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports is a bons for me, and I feel it’s the best way to connect some devices in my house. Linksys provides a 3-year warranty with these so I am sure I will have no problems as nearly everything I have owned from them so far has been solid and just worked for me.

Quiet and powerful
on August 28, 2022
Posted by: jago
The Smart Choice 1/2HP comes with a 6-year warranty and includes lifetime rust protection. My previous disposer had lasted about 10 years and was starting to make more and more noises and was showing signs of rusting. It was only a matter of time of time before it started leaking. The Smart Choice has a very good price, and it seems it is part of the budge line of Frigidaire products. However, it does offer very quiet operation and has plenty of power.
This was very easy for me to install, and I was able to use my existing mounting hardware of my old Insinkerator brand. Installation took me about 30 minutes in all and I was quite happy with that. I also like the white color as it makes my dark and dingy cabinet area down there a little bit brighter. If you are in the market for a replacement, then I highly recommend going with the Smart Choice 1/2HP corded garbage disposer, the warranty is fantastic for this price and the included rust protection for the life of the disposer is a great addition.

Small, but mighty
on July 17, 2022

This is a very small, very cool looking, very good sounding portable Bluetooth speaker that, in my opinion, has the coolest startup and shut down sounds that I have heard from a speaker. Both guitar riffs are just so cool and add a great touch to this speaker. The faux leather look and branded Marshall signature makes this look like a mini speaker that you would see on stage of your local band playing at your favorite small venue. This speaker preforms way better than its small statue would imply, and I am very impressed with the sound, the highs are not distorted when at full volume and the bass is deep and full. I charged the Emberton II via the USB Type C connector to full charge, which took it a few hours to fully charge and after about 30 minutes of playing music, the Marshall Bluetooth app (they need a better name since it just shows as “Bluetooth” in my app drawer) showed it was already down to 80%. I was very concerned that the rated 30 hours of battery life would not be achieved, but after the initial drop in power, it has lasted a full 30 hours plus some. I am going to call that a bug since it has not happened again to me. Regarding the app, besides the name that needs to be changed, it is pretty basic, but has the features that you like such as setting one of the three presets, starting stack mode, battery indicator and the ability to control the music you are listening to. Overall this is a nice sounding speaker that has a great battery life, IP67 Dust and Water-Resistant, Bluetooth 5.1, and is made with 50% recycled plastic so you can fell a little better about your purchase and helping the planet.

Very cool air purifier that I added to my home.
on July 12, 2022
Posted by: jago
The LG PuriCare AeroTower is a very tall and heavy (26lbs.) fan that can also clean the air in an 818 square foot area, let you know the current temperature, humidity and three different particulates in the room that it is in. The air in my home has always been pretty good so I don’t expect this to radically change that and the AeroTower confirms that my air is good. I do enjoy using it as a fan to keep us cool while we sit in front of it though and it does a great job of that. It is super quiet on most of the fan settings and even on the highest level, its not terribly loud. This AeroTower seems to do nearly everything, except heat, which is a bummer, it seems like the size of this and the price, a heating element could have been included in here since its biggest rival has that feature. That wasn’t a deal breaker for me though as I believe this has many features that still make it worth its price. There are four ways to control this, the first being the buttons on the top, which are limited in what they can do, for example, you can power it on, adjust the fan speed turn on rotation, change different modes (diffusion/wide). The included remote has a few more options but it is also limited in my mind. A side note, the remote can be attached to the side of the fan via built in magnets so you can always know where it is. The third and main way to control this is using the LG ThinQ app, which is a fantastic app. It works well, easy to set up and is simple to use. There are some ads on the app, but I don’t think they are too bad. I also use the app to control my LG TV, LG Fridge, and LG CordZero stick vacuum. Using the app allows you to really customize the fan and access all of its features. You can set the degrees of rotation, set up the wide and diffuser modes, adjust the speed of the fan, power on/off set schedules, turn on the UV Nano light, and preform smart diagnosis on the device to see if it is having any problems. This is where you can also view the status of the filter to see how much life is left and also more detailed information on the particulates in the room from PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10. Temperature and humidity are also reported in the app. Overall for air purifier in this price range, it does offer a lot, but lacks the heating element to make this the perfect addition to your home, besides that I still feel that it is a good price for what this can do and how well it is made and add the fact that LG warranties the parts for 10 years and you have a winner in my opinion.

A good All-in-one for your everyday needs.
on July 11, 2022
Posted by: jago
This Dell Inspiron 24” All-in-one computer is a good computer for the casual gamer or a space that is limited or small desk. The all-in-one design is space saving by combine the PC, Monitor and speakers in a compact design, dell calls it a clean space design where the keyboard can be ‘parked’ and built-in cable management for an uncluttered look. The specs of this PC are mid-range if you plan to use this for working, school, browsing the web, and consuming streaming video, which it does all of that well and you will not be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a gaming rig, this is not for you. Casual games will run on this, but if you are trying to use it to play COD or racing games, look elsewhere. It doesn’t have a dedicated video graphics card so it simply cannot handle those more intensive games. I have a separate gaming rig so that was not a concern for me, but just keep that in mind. One of my favorite features is the ability to use this as a second monitor for my gaming rig via the HDMI Input. There is also a HDMI output, 3 USB Type A ports, Ethernet port, SD card reader, and a USB Type C power port located on the side of the monitor for easy access. The built in 720p Webcam can be hidden inside the monitor for privacy. Dell has included a wireless mouse and keyboard with batteries, and they work well, but the keyboard is a little small for my taste, but beyond that there are no complaints there. This PC has a built in Wi-Fi 6 AX card and I can utilize the full speed of my cable modem of 400+ Mbps but is actually rated for much faster speeds. The built-in speakers are good enough for most applications, but I mainly use my Bluetooth headset which connects fast and without issues so far. I am not the biggest fan of Windows 11, so I won’t complain about that here, but it was nice that Dell has not installed a lot of bloatware on the PC. If you are in the market for a good all-around PC and do not need the latest graphics for gaming, then I can recommend this as a possible solution. It will check most of all the boxes that I am looking for.

Perfect mouse for my needs
on July 2, 2022
Posted by: jago
This is one very light mouse and very responsive as well. I prefer a light mouse for gaming and this thing fits the bill. It checks all the boxes that I require for a gaming mouse. Wireless, Bluetooth, quick dpi changes, lightweight, USB Type C connection, long battery life, and feels good in the hand. There is even a slot to store the wireless dongle to keep them together. The default lighting scheme leaves a little to be desired, but you can easily download the software to change that to your liking. There is even onboard memory, and this mouse will keep your settings for you. The default DPI settings toggle between 400, 800, 1200, 1600, and 3200, but you can adjust them with the software in chunks of 100 if you like so you can really dial in a setting that suites you. Inside the box you will find a 1.8meter braided and flexible USB Type C cable, the wireless dongle, and some paperwork. Battery life is rated at 100 hours, but in my short time I have not had time to fully test it, but I have used it for about 20 hours and no issues so far. It does also have a quick charge that is supposed to give you up to 5 hours of playing time with just a quick 10-minute charge. This mouse is simple, easy to use and has a great price point as well. Combine that with a 2-year warranty and it is hard to pass this one up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simplify your everyday life with the Google Home, a voice-activated speaker powered by the Google Assistant. Use voice commands to enjoy music, get answers from Google and manage everyday tasks. Google Home is compatible with Android and iOS operating systems, and can control compatible smart devices such as Chromecast or Nest."

Why is it so expensive?

Price is all relative. I didn't find it to be that expensive. It has a great speaker and it simply works really good. Its priced $50 cheaper than the Echo and the speaker quality is as good if not better.

We live in the country, and can only use satellite internet. It is not a real strong signal, and can be affected easily by weather. We also have a log home, which blocks the signal in certain areas of the house and porch. Would this help in our situation?

It won't help with your satellite signal, but the wifi signal in your house could potentially improved.
