I installed this drive in a 2012 MacBook Pro, that I use in my recording studio. The standard 500 GB Hard Drive worked fine, but I really wanted faster performance, so I installed the Samsung SSD, 16 GB RAM and put the original drive in an external case to store only audio files on. Now, the MacBook is super fast, boots up in 13 seconds and performs all tasks instantly, even when running more than 50 tracks with multiple plugins going. This is probably the best upgrade for the money, along with the additional RAM. I highly recommend this SSD.

I have a background as a Voice/Data/Security/CCTV installer, so when the need arose for video security at my home, I was well aware of what I needed, as well as pricing. I was surprised to see a system like this, including four IR Cameras, for under $400. Installation and setup were a breeze, and aside from running the pre made cables to the camera locations, the configuration took less than 15 minutes. Viewing the cameras live, from anyplace that I have cell service, is my favorite feature. The clarity of picture, day or night, is very good. The only "issue" I experienced, was the notification of movement didn't work on the first version of the Android App. The next version released a few weeks later fixed this. Aside from the one minor app problem, the DVR and cameras have worked flawlessly. In the past, equivalent systems that my company sold, cost at least $1000 more than this one, had half the hard drive capacity and did not even come close to the ease of setup for remote viewing. Another big plus is that an additional DVR and cameras can be added, expanding the total of cameras to 16, and can easily be viewed by the one app by selecting DVR 2, or whatever unique name you choose. This system is outstanding.

I was a bit skeptical about using a Bluetooth Audio adapter, rather than plugging my device in directly, and was expecting fair audio quality at best. To my surprise, the audio sounds good, with no noticeable difference from plugging in direct. I use the BT Audio Adapter with an Android phone, older iPod touch and iPad mini, through a great sounding Onkyo receiver and Klipsch speakers. This device gives me the mobility that I wanted, without degrading the sound quality. It pairs up quickly and easily, at a very fair price. It is far better than the cheaper devices.

With a little programming I was able to control my Denon AVR, RCA Television, Magnavox DVD and Apple TV. The Logitech library didn't have all of the buttons included in their template for some devices, but it was easy enough to program each as needed. It works as it should, is very customizable and seems well built.

The unit sets up quickly and integrates with other Apple products flawlessly. We use it to listen to music through our AVR with Klipsch speakers and the sound is excellent. We also watch our favorite programs on Netflix, videos on YouTube and mirror iPads to watch HBO GO and other apps that aren't yet available to view via the built in apps, that aren't available due to our cable company. Is Samsung the best SSD vs Sandisk vs PNY vs others?
I've only compared the Samsung against a Crucial MX100 500 gb SSD, and noticed absolutely no difference in performance. It was in a second MacBook Pro that is in my recording studio, so it is an apples to apples comparison. My online research shows the Samsung to be the best in it's class, but in the real world, any of the SSD's is a vast improvement over a standard hard drive. Samsung has the best warranty, 5 years, if I recall correctly.

Will this fit the lastest mac book pro?
I own a Mac book pro 13 inch with retina display and i'd like to upgrade the memory on my laptop, but before i purchase this i'd like to know if it fits Apples lastest model Mac book pro with retina.
It will fit and work just fine in your MBP. I suggest you do a complete backup with Time Machine, onto an external drive, and use that to restore your operating system and files on the new SSD. I did this recently and the whole process was done in less than 90 minutes. My MacBook runs super fast and flawlessly, boots up in 13 seconds to the login screen.

Can I format a drive in this enclosure?
I have a hard drive that I need to reformat but the machine it is in doesn't have OS on it. I want to place in this enclosure and connect to my windows 8 laptop and reformat the drive. Is this possible with this enclosure.
