One major plus is that I don't need an AC power cord, I can just plug-n-play. If you're switching over from MS OS to Mac OS like me, with the 3.0 port you will notice an increase in speed for file transfer. Love, love, love the password feature my last external didn't offer that option. So far so good.

So right off I noticed the speed and battery life of my new Macbook Pro compared to my Windows computers.
