If you don't give this a chance, you will regret it. In this day and age, when there is very little creativity or originality on the small screen, it seems that more and more TV writers are falling back on trying to adapt the big screen, to the little screen. They are doing this at a success rate of about 1 success to every 500 tries. I must admit that the fist night my wife and I sat down to watch "Leathal Weapon's" premier, I had very little hope that this was going to be one of those success'. I'm happy to say, I was wrong. That first night was pretty good. So, we made a "date" to watch again the following week......and the next.......and the next, until this was one of those very, very rare shows, on network television, that we follow on a regular basis.
Like the movie, the show revolves around 50 yr. old Detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans), and his loose-cannon new partner, Martin Riggs (newcomer Clayne Crawford). After a couple episodes, as the characters evolve, you find out that it's about a lot more than these two cops that are total opposites. In addition, there's almost non-stop action, humor, drama, romance, and every emotion you can experience. As the series progressed, I was really impressed by how well Wayans' character, and that of Crawford's, played off each other. The chemistry is very good between these two actors. I can't recommend this highly enough. It is a real gem in what is usually a place I don't relate with quality. GIVE THIS SHOW A CHANCE!!!

Blondes Don’t Always Have More Fun

Charlize Theron is a take no prisoner’s action heroine in Atomic Blonde, based on the Oni Press graphic novel series The Coldest City. Set during the Cold War, to a killer New Wave soundtrack, Theron plays Lorraine Broughton, a tough as nails undercover MI6 agent, sent to Berlin to find out why her fellow agents are being murdered. Directed by David Leitch, who previously helmed the first John Wick, Atomic Blonde gives Theron a chance to display the action heroine vibe we first saw from her in Mad Max: Fury Road. Theron is up to the task and does well as the lead. However, the script by Kurt Johnstad doesn’t do much regarding the narrative.
Johnstad, who previously wrote the 2012 Navy Seal drama, Act of Valor and the 300 films, doesn’t do as well as adapting this medium to the screen. Whenever there wasn’t any action going on in the movie, it tends to drag. Maybe if they trimmed a good thirty minutes from its run time, I might have enjoyed the film a bit more. Given his previous success with a graphic novel adaption (300), I expected a bit more with this story. In any genre, a weak narrative can make or break a film, no matter how talented your cast is. The usually reliable James McAvoy in the role of David Percival, Broughton’s contact who may know more than he leads on has a throwaway role.
McAvoy gives off the vibe that he made this movie strictly for a paycheck. Sofia Boutella, who was great in the summer’s “The Mummy” isn’t given much to do, other than eye candy and a love interest for Broughton. The supporting cast does what they can though as, Bill Skarsgard does some impressive work, while John Goodman & Toby Jones both provide their usual character actor work as Lorraine’s handlers.
Atomic Blonde isn’t a total waste though, as the film does deliver on the action front. Unlike her role as the big bad in this past spring’s eighth entry in the Fast & Furious franchise, Theron kicks all kind of butt in Atomic Blonde. Leitch still knows how to get the best of his actors when it comes to the choreography of a fight scene or action sequence. One particular fight scene in the film’s third act, where Theron takes on two henchmen, is an endless barge of kicks and punches that had me smiling ear to ear the entire time. Not only is that fight scene one of the best action sequences of 2017, but it will also be worth the price of admission alone for action junkies.
Despite having impressive action sequences and SURPRISING plot twists, Atomic Blonde was a letdown. Theron, while good in the lead role, deserves better, and director Leitch is capable of better. With a shorter running time and a stronger script, Atomic Blonde could have become an action classic; instead, the film will likely be forgotten by the masses in a few months.

Best Comedy of 2017

Girls Trip, is sure to draw comparisons to Rough Night from naysayers, and while their general premise is the same (friends from college reuniting), the similarities end there. The comedy genre can be a hit or miss most of the time. What one person may find funny, the next person may not, which is why comedy is layered and the R rated comedy will always be a mainstay. Girls Trip has achieved what previously R-rated comedies released this year failed to do, and that is stick with its audience long after the credits roll.
Four female friends, known as the “Flossy Posse,” reunite for a wild weekend at the Essence Festival. Regina Hall plays Ryan Pierce, a self-help author and leader of the group who while successful has a philandering husband, played with just the right amount of dogism by Mike Colter, of Luke Cage fame. The rest of the ladies, Sasha (Queen Latifah), Dina (Tiffany Haddish in a breakout performance) and Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith) each have their share of problems as well. Sasha is having financial trouble, Dina just got fired from her job, and Lisa is a divorcee of two years who has forgotten how to have fun. Despite their problems, it doesn’t stop them from reuniting to support Lisa, who happens to be the keynote speaker at the Essence Festival.
The script written by Kenya Barris & Tracy Oliver who previously collaborated on Barbershop: The Next Cut, gives each lady a chance to shine, which can sometimes be rare in an ensemble comedy. I spent the majority of the movie laughing out loud, as the jokes came at a rapid pace. It’s always refreshing to see a comedy where ALL of the good jokes aren’t in the trailer, and that is the case with Girls Trip.
Director Malcolm D. Lee once again shows he can effectively juggle four successful African American friends on screen, as he did with the males in The Best Man movies. The strength of Girls Trip is in the film’s heart and the chemistry between the leads and the male characters aren’t underwritten or wasted either. Memorable supporting work comes in the form of Larenz Tate, a friend of the women from college, and Malik (Kofi Siriboe) who serves as a love interest for Lisa.
While the film’s two-hour running time may turn off some viewers, I never found myself bored with the movie. No matter what your ethnic background is, you will find something you can relate to in Girls Trip. With meme ready jokes, memorable one liners, and cameos galore (including one from my favorite music group), the film is easily the most fun I’ve had at the movies this summer and one of my top films of the year

Who Doesn't Love Star Wars

This movie, referred to simply as "A Star Wars Story", is in my opinion the BEST of the cinematic offerings of all the derivatives that have issued forth from the original 1977 movie. Rogue One belongs to A New Hope in the same way The Empire Strikes Back does. This is "The Real Star Wars". Darth Vader included! MT4BWY!!

Two very good actors who share the light and action. It does have a lot of violence, foul talk and a bit to many car chases, but then we should go into a movie like this expecting violence and foul talk. It's a great movie and there are quite a lot of funny parts as well. If you like Reynolds or Jackson or both I would recommend watching this movie.

Great film! From the acting to the flow of the plot, very enjoyable and well done. The story itself doesn't drag or go to quick and the idea alone is original. The acting was phenomenal, the way the characters were portrayed was great with how developed and in depth they were. Some of the acting seems a little off but I am sure that this was done intentionally to give the viewer an off feeling for certain scenes in order to cause an involuntary deduction of both the key pivotal moments and the subtle details. The alternate ending in my opinion was beautifully conceived but the used ending was sufficient. I believe that this movie delves further than on matters of race, I must say that there are points to this story that are very relatable... It covers the issues of trust with others and ones own judgement. I absolutely enjoyed the character Chris. Without giving away much I will say he pulls you into a point where you can see this story through his eyes(this line is humorous if you watch it). Honestly, though I am not too exercised in giving good reviews. That being said if want an exciting, deep, thrilling, and initially confusing in a good way movie, I implore you to give this refreshing masterpiece a chance.

Anyone who grew up watching the X-men movies, cartoons, and reading the comics must watch this movie. Is it perfect? No. But it is the perfect period on a sentence that is the character of Wolverine we all know and love. Every role is played perfectly and it gets me in the feels every time I watch it. The character of Laura is so perfectly portrayed and cast that I can't wait for her to be in future movies and I finally have hope for the continuation of this brand.
As I said before, it's not perfect. There is far too much swearing, especially done by Charles Xavier, which really took me out of the movie at times. Logan swearing is fine, he always seemed to be holding back his vulgarity anyway and swears in previous titles, but I always saw Charles to be above that. You could explain it away by saying it's a way of showing his frustration about his current situation, but there are other, more creative, ways of getting that across.
This isn't one for the kids, that's for sure, so don't let your Avengers-loving children watch this one. It's really meant for the people that grew up with the character and needed a more mature and even telling of a story now that we've outgrown the colorful costumes and crazy CG-infested bad guy battles. (Okay... fine, I'll never outgrow that stuff, but it was nice watching a film that complimented my childhood hero without the kid-gloves on.)
All-in-all, if you are a fan of comics and a fan of Wolverine (and don't mind strong language and violence), just watch this movie. It's fantastic.

enjoy the bad reviews as much as the movie. People are saying things like "I wish there had been more of a story..." Yeah, because hip comedies, like their indie movies, NEED A STORY! Come on, people...it's about absurd office antics around the Christmas Holidays and how one lad and his team attempt to save the company and all the jobs therein. It is a typical "OFFICE" comedy (if you don't know the franchise, check up on that first) featuring typical Jason Bateman-style gags. Lots of adult and "bathroom" humor....lots of moments so stupid that they are HILARIOUS!
If you have never worked for a large corp or in a big office setting, you might not get the reasons BEHIND the GAGS. Especially the running HR gag. Human resource managers are just over-paid glorified clerks. They are there not to help employees, but to help the company control the employees. This is about the PARTY that Human Resources would never condone! It is IN the face of the HR clerks. And, having worked in similar environments, I LOVED IT! It is PARTY movie, so yeah, you will see many modern PARTY references. Hey, some of it is distasteful. That is the point. This is about OFFICE PARTY today...not about your grandma's office party! So grab some popcorn, beers, hot chicks...and enjoy this Office Christmas Party like you are there!!!! This was released in the 2016 Christmas movie season, so right now, it is kind of OUT OF SEASON...but I just watched it and found it funny, even in may.
