A fantastic romp

Kingsman, admittedly looked like another Young Adult novel turned franchise in its trailers. But after hearing some fantastic reviews I went to check it out.
WOW it is such a great little movie that harkens back to James Bond films of yore. I recently bought it on blu ray and still think this is right up there for film of the year in my book.
Do yourself a favor and watch this smart and funny as all get out film.

An excellent series

About a year ago I heard a positive review for this show, and saw that it was on a streaming service on the net. I put it on got about ten minutes in and thought- na this isn't for me.
Then the same reviewer had yet more positive things to say about this series while reviewing season three. I went back to it and fell deeply in love with the acting, storytelling, core concepts, and overall well thought out time travel aspect.
Buy it now, do yourself the honor.

Ghostbusters: Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson star as a quartet of Manhattan-based "paranormal investigators". When their government grants run out, the former three go into business as The Ghostbusters, later hiring Hudson on. Armed with electronic paraphernalia, the team is spectacularly successful, ridding The Big Apple of dozens of ghoulies, ghosties and long-legged beasties. Tight-lipped bureaucrat William Atherton regards the Ghostbusters as a bunch of charlatans, but is forced to eat his words when New York is besieged by an army of unfriendly spirits, conjured up by a long-dead Babylonian demon and "channelled" through beautiful cellist Sigourney Weaver and nerdish Rick Moranis. The climax is a glorious sendup of every Godzilla movie ever made-and we daresay it cost more than a year's worth of Japanese monster flicks combined. Who'd ever dream that the chubby, cheery Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man would turn out to be the most malevolent threat ever faced by New York City? When the script for Ghostbusters was forged by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, John Belushi was slated to play the Bill Murray role; Belushi's death in 1982 not only necessitated the hiring of Murray, but also an extensive rewrite. The most expensive comedy made up to 1984, Ghostbusters made money hand over fist, spawning not only a 1989 sequel but also two animated TV series (one of them partially based on an earlier live-action TV weekly, titled The Ghost Busters. Ghostbusters II: Ivan Reitman's sequel to the phenomenally successful Ghostbusters is looser and more self-assured than the original. The film opens with a title reading "Five Years Later" and finds the ghostbusters living in hard times. A restraining order has forbidden the boys to partake in paranormal warfare, and as a result they have had to seek other lines of work. Ray (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston (Ernie Hudson) spend their time performing at children's' birthday parties, and Egon (Harold Ramis) is busy conducting experiments investigating the effect of human emotions on the environment, leaving ghostbusting behind. Venkman (Bill Murray) and Dana (Sigourney Weaver) have split up. Venkman now hosts a local cable show called "The World of the Psychic." Dana, now divorced and the mother of a little baby named Oscar, works as an art restorer in a museum -- and this is where the plot kicks in. While Dana is restoring a portrait of a 16th-century tyrant by the name of Vigo the Carpathian, the portrait becomes hexed. The evil Vigo wants to return to life by taking over the body of Dana's little child. Vigo has enlisted Dana's boss, Janosz Poha (Peter MacNicol), to compel Dana to cooperate. Soon dirty sludge and slime flow through the streets of Manhattan, and the ghostbusters have to reunite to save the city from a funky paranormal evil.

Ghostbusters are back and remastered in 4K, with this set you get both films- while the first film release isn't radically different from the Bluray releases a couple of years ago- there is a minimal difference to be observed.
The real charm here is being able to get the second film in HD available for the first time, at a very cheap price. While there are some who say it's a blatant copy- for fans of the film there is a lot to love. The transfer is stelar, and there is a brand new feature speaking to the past, present, and future of the series.
The rest of the extras available are decent. In the packaging material is a note from Ivan Reitman. All in all a great steal!

What's great about it: Both great films for a low price! 4K ready
What's not so great: Lack of features on the second film

Hannibal is one of the series that I heard about being adapted from a movie to the small screen, and thought "dear god"- the brethren cut from this cloth didn't give me much hope, but at least they had the books to take cues from. Then I read that Brian Fuller was adapting it and I knew it would be great.
Each season pushes the boundaries of television by redefining how horror can work on BROADCAST, it shows things that constantly have you asking how NBC would allow it. The cinematographic style resembles film and even experimental film. The lighting and sound design both perfect.
Season two picks up after the devastating conclusions that last season brought, taking Will Graham to a bleak morbid place. The season opener will get your heart racing, as it appears that someone has caught on to Dr. Lecter, only to cut back to twelve weeks earlier showing the eventual fallout.
Save room for season three....

Drawn Together is one of those very specific shows that was killed too early in it's prime. The humor may prove to be too much for some people and it is definitely not for children- but if you are not easily offended then you will find the gut wrenching subversive satire that lies underneath the numerous parodies and call outs to other forms of media.

This release contains all thirteen episodes from the fifth season of the sitcom Community. A run of shows distinctive because they were created under the leadership of show creator Dan Harmon after he was brough back having been fired from the show before season four, this season would be the last in which the program aired on NBC, and also featured the departure of longtime cast member Donald Glover.

Community Returns!
on September 8, 2014

Community bounces back from it's lack luster forth season by becoming the first show in history to rehire a showrunner who was fired. Dan Harmon returns and revitalizes the show in such a way that you can tell from episode one that the magic is back. For those who believe the show is cancelled I would like to say that it indeed is not- look around on the net it is still alive.
The set has commentary on every episode and for the most part it is informative- the only reason I knocked it down a peg on the extras is because aside from commentary and one gag reel, and a behind the scenes look at the writers room- the extras feel a bit lacking (although substantially more than season four) this go round.

My review is centralized only on the transfer quality of the disc. The movie it's self is a fantastic watch- but the transfer is pretty muddled here. Not really the HD treatment, and the effects are pretty aged- though I am not sure if that is just because of problems with the upgrade or just how they appeared in the original format.
I recommend the movie to anyone- just not this release.

This epic release from the landmark fantasy series Game of Thrones includes all 10 episodes of the show's third season, following the ongoing story of the powerful families of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, a land in which the cut-throat political web through which seemingly everyone vies for control includes torture, seduction, and many secrets.

Game of Thrones continues to be one the best series that HBO has produced with exceptional writing, and acting. George R.R. Martin's fantastic world is realized. If you are buying this for a friend I recommend going back and buying the first season for yourself, you will be instantly hooked.

The show is excellent as always, but I would like to say that the bluray of the show is nearly the same quality of the dvd with the same extras. The extras are pretty lame in quantity not even commentary.... I suppose its been a decline in quality for a while.
The episodes and writing are top notch elevating the characters to new heights that they must fall from. Such a great season.

This release compiles all 13 episodes from the fourth season of the NBC sitcom Community, starring Joel McHale as the sardonic leader of a wacky study group. This season of the show is notable as it was the first to be created without input from series creator Dan Harmon, who was fired from the program, but returned for its fifth season.

Community we received not the one we deserved

*I have not received this yet, this is just of the show content*
Community has been a very fragile show, the humor is great and spot on- but the barrier for entry is that unless you know the characters you will not be on board with the comedy.
This season we got two brand new showrunners who had to deal with a tremendous amount of pressure- appease fans and keep the executives who fired the last showrunner, happy. The results are mixed.
The show pulls more gimmicks this season, without progressing the characters. In actuality it undoes a lot of the progression that two characters had made in the previous season.
There are a few really good standout episodes- the episode that deals with Changnesia and the Jim Rash written episode, which is largely a return to form, are top notch.
This is not the Community that we deserved, but it did bridge the way for Dan Harmon (previous showrunner) to come back. Recommended mainly for the Jim Rash episode or for the completist.

Very poor 3D effects
By Inspect1 from indiana
I do know that this is the blue ray copy I am reviewing but every one need to know how bad the 3D part of this movie is.
Well this movie could have been a excellent 3D movie but sony picture forgot to used 3D cameras. This movie had very poor 3D effects and it was too disgusting in some scenes. I agree with the freeman that The gore, is so over the top that I also felt a little sick watching some of the climax scenes.
Do not buy this movie on 3D it is a waste of your money. If you have to see this movie buy it on blue ray DVD instead. This is just a sample of of how movie companies are trying to take more money from us buy making us believe that every 3D movie is made in 3D. wrong!! Please rent first..

While you are entitled to your opinion I would ask you to go back and watch this film keeping this in mind: the ddd effects aren't supposed to be good... they are actually supposed to be insulting. This entire movie is a comedy, not a genuine we are trying to scare you movie.
Even the pre press for this movie tries to let you know check this out:

Just a follow up
December 31, 2013
I recently sat and watched through all of the season, and while my review still stands, also NBC didn't even bother with the release- usually there is the theme overture and different iconic poses that the characters are doing in the individual episode that pop up.... they just put a static screen and threw it out there.
