I got this mixer to replace my old Kitchenaid 4.5 qt. that was 15 years old. (still working, but getting noisy) . no issues, except they changed design where beater attaches, pre-2017 had a spring and washer... I called KA and they explained this was the new style. my wife has made cakes, frostings, breads, with no issues.

Can you still attach the pasta maker and meat grinder to this or is that only with the bigger mixer or are they about the same size?

yes the attachments fit.
