great for camping

We got this ION Audio - Sport XL mainly to take on camping trips and day use at the lake. We generally play music from the time we wake up til the time the park ranger has to shut us down for quiet hours.
The battery was amazing on our 2 night trip to the lake. Even with music going constantly the battery never wore out. Usually we have to bring 2 or 3 of the smaller Bluetooth speakers to make it through a camping trip but this ION Audio - Sport XL lasted the entire trip. The best part was we could plug our phones into the speaker while they were playing so our phones would not get drained either.
Connection to phones was a breeze too. we could connect and disconnect phones in a matter of minutes with Bluetooth or the aux cord that came with the unit.
The volume it puts out could rock the whole campgrounds not just our campsites. We really couldn't put the level past 50% and that was plenty to stretch across 3 campsites.
The bass boost is overkill in my opinion. Especially when the kids played their music
The deep bass in their songs came through clear enough without bass boost but when turned on the bass became very distorted and made the whole unit rumble and sound bad. I'm not sure what kind of music you would need the bass boost for but it seems overpowering and unnecessary.
Even though the ION Audio - Sport XL is not to heavy to lug around it has a telescoping handle and wheels that makes it like rolling a piece of luggage through an airport.
The radio is also pretty much useless if you live or use the speaker in any rural area. At the lake you get nothing but static but then again even in my truck in that area all I get is static. But even at home where we live, maybe 20 miles (as the crow flies) from a major city (Sacramento), only a few stations come in and they are very weak. There's no port to add an antenna to but I guess if you live close to radio stations the radio feature would be nice.
I didn't think we would ever use the microphone but it actually came in handy during or corn hole tournament to call fellow campers over when it was their turn to play. Of course the younger kids loved to play with the mic and sing into it and say crazy things. Not a must to have but did add some fun to using the speaker.
If you were to get a 2nd ION Audio - Sport XL or any other ION speaker you can link them together so you could just about have concert level sound at your function.
This is an awesome speaker!!

good "little" fryer

I got this CHEFMAN - TurboFry to see what the new craze was all about. Air frying.
When I received the unit it was pretty large, I thought wow, I will be able to make a whole meal for my family of 4 all at once. When you actually pull the fryer basket out of the unit there is no way I could cook enough food at once to feed everyone.
The directions are very simple. plug it in, set time and temp, put food on tray and insert fryer basket into unit. sooo easy!
I first tried pork chops. I bought 8 medium sized pork chops(2each) to try out first. I put olive oil and seasoning on the chops and went to place them on the grill but only 4 would fit in a single layer. It says you can stack food but there was no way that even this fryer could brown in between the chops during cooking. So i did 4 at a time and followed the online recipe time which wasn't even close to enough time. It said 9 minutes and turn the chops half way through cooking. They were still almost raw at that point.
So I checked the cooking times that came with CHEFMAN - TurboFry and it said 15 minutes, turning half way. So after trial and error and about 17 minutes the chops came out great. The 2nd batch I put in for 16 minutes and turned half way and they came out better. crunchy, crispy and golden brown. probably better because I didn't have to start and stop the unit 4 or 5 times to check chop temp. The best part was that i only used maybe 4 tablespoons of olive oil instead of a whole pan full of vegetable oil on the stove-top like we used to use.
So of course I had to try wings and fries also. I filled the basket with wings (about 10) and they came out delicious. Now if you were to put them next to a batch of deep vat fried chicken wings the latter would be better tasting, but the taste compared to the calories and fat you are saving is definitely worth using the CHEFMAN - TurboFry.
Frozen fries also came out golden brown and crispy. a little oil spray on them, salt and in 18 to 20 minutes... delicious fries.
Clean up is almost as easy as the setup. I didn't go the dishwasher route, I just used a little dish soap and sponge and everything wiped away real easy. rinsed off and done!
I like this brand, CHEFMAN - TurboFry, but will definitely look for a larger fry basket the next time I buy one.

perfect 4K experience

When I bought my Sony XBR 4K TV I was a little disappointed that there wasn't much 4K programming available to test the limits of my TV. But this Sony UBP-X1100ES has made it completely worth buying the TV,
First of all setup is so easy. Connect a high speed HDMI cable to the TV and plug it in. An on screen setup helps you connect the unit to your WiFi and there are several screen setting that can be adjusted also. I left most on auto knowing that Sony engineers are a lot smarter then me on setting the correct outputs and resolutions.
After install I immediately rented 1 blue ray dvd (the Meg) to see the upscaling feature, and bought 1 4k ultra HD movie (Avengers Infinity War).
The colors in the Meg were so bold and life like it really felt like I was undersea with the actors. The deep blues of the sea, the deep blacks of the ocean floor and the brightness when they would turn the lights on the subs on were amazing.I never thought i could ever get a picture like that while watching a DVD. The upscaling to 4k works great while watching just an HD video.
Now for the 4k UHD movie, The Avengers. The depth was the most impressive feature while watching the movie. It was as if the characters were right in my living room. The HDR on the player and TV bring so many colors to life.
The sound from the UBP-X1100ES player is awesome as well. Played through my Sony soundbar with rear surround and Atmos the quality was clear, precise and LOUD!!. From the pulsating underwater attacks in The MEG to the thunderous battles in The Avengers the quality of the sound was amazing.
There are some streaming apps as well installed on the player. Netflix, Prime and You Tube can be watched through the player but I'm sure most people who buy this player have a smart TV with these apps already installed on the TV.
This Sony UBP-X1100ES has now made me appreciate why I bought a 4K HDR TV in the first place.

Suction as good as a home vac in a little package
on June 29, 2019

We got this HOOVER - ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac to take care of the little jobs around the house and in the car so we didn't have to lug around our house vacuum to jobs like stairs and car floorboards. It works AWESOME!!!
we have a big black Lab who sheds like crazy and who's hair always winds up on the carpeted staircase. So using our home vacuum and going step by step up 2 flights of stairs was bothersome. I used this HOOVER - ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac and did the stairs in a matter of minutes and it sucked up every last hair.
The suction power meets the same power as our home vac. Even though this is a lightweight version of our home vac it feels very sturdy and has some weight to it. Not overwhelming weight like you would get tired doing small jobs but weight that makes you feel like you are using a sturdy, reliable hand vac. The last hand vac I owned was a B/D Dustbuster and that was junk compared to this HOOVER - ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac. Cheaply made, low suction and low battery life made me toss that Dustbuster out after several months. This Hoover works 10x better than that brand.
After first charge overnight I used it on my stairs, both mine and my wife's car, couches and chairs in the living room, dogs bed and more and no drop in suction. The battery is amazing and even after using it straight for a couple hours have not yet found the end of the battery life.
It comes with one crevice attachment which works well when going in between door jams in the car but the attachment doesn't fit that firmly onto the unit and I found myself dislodging it when using the vac. Not a big deal, I will probably just leave it off and store it in our utility closet until needed.
If you are locking for a great hand vac. this HOOVER - ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac is it!

great lock/handle combo
on June 6, 2019
Posted by: internetuser
from Placerville
like many others I had a separate deadbolt that sat about 4 inches above my door latch. When I first took the Lockly - Secure Pro Bluetooth Latch out of the box I noticed it was all 1 piece and was only going to use 1 of the 2 holes in my door. Also if i were to put it in the latch hole the old deadbolt would have been in the way. So i decided to put it in the hole where the deadbolt was. Perfect! The only thing is the handle sits a little higher then I would like but for the performance this Lockly - Secure Pro Bluetooth Latch gives, it's worth it.
With 2 teenage boys who are weekly "misplacing" (losing) their keys this is a must. They love high tech stuff anyhow and this is perfect for them. I gave them both the option to use a passcode, fingerprint and too download the app so they could lock and unlock the door. works great for that. Also with the app I can monitor when they are coming and going though the door which I like.
Once the configuration was established the setup was easy. I just bought a door hole cover (home depot) to cover the bottom hole in the door. After installation the tech part was easy. I linked it up to my wifi and was able to enter pass-codes and setup fingerprint entry.
The touchpad on the front of the door is very cool. each time you enter a code the numbers in the box shuffle so no one watching can remember a pattern because the numbers in the circle change each time. very smart!
I love how sturdy the unit is too. You will notice from the first time you pick up the box that this is no cheap door latch. from the deadbolt to the latch it is made very sturdy.
I love the my new Lockly - Secure Pro Bluetooth Latch - Satin Nickel and would recommend one to anyone.

only buy if you don't have a car with Bluetooth
on May 2, 2019

from Placerville
I got this for my wife's car which has Bluetooth but I came to find out that it is call only Bluetooth. she can't play music from her phone through the stereo, only calls can come in our out.
So I thought connecting this Anker Roav Bolt might solve the problem. It didn't. There is also no aux port so I couldn't hook it up that way either.
So just to try it I used it in my F150 which i can already connect my phone up to through BT. The Bolt hooked up to my phone easily but would keep getting shut off as my Ford Sync would then connect and boot the Bolt offline. I had to turn the Sync function off then I was able to try out the Bolt.
It understood my commands perfectly. "play google play music" , "direction to Sacramento", "closest gas station to me" were some of the commands I gave after saying OK Google. It completed every command flawlessly.
Now here's the problem. If you already have Google assistant on your phone, already have a car stereo that connects to your phone via Bluetooth, then this product is completely unnecessary.
So if you have an older car that has an aux port and no Bluetooth then this Bolt would be perfect for you.
Right now for me it is only serving as a dual phone charger for the 12 volt port I have in the backseat so my kids can charge their phones at the same time.
So below where I checked I would recommend this to a friend, remember, only a friend without a Bluetooth car stereo and google assistant on their phone.

great upgrade from 60hz monitor
on April 29, 2019
Posted by: internetuser

My son was looking to upgrade from an older 60hz monitor since he is getting more into gaming on his laptop.
First off the design is perfect for his smallish desk. The old monitor was big and bulky and had a huge frame but this HP - 24f 24" IPS LED FHD FreeSync monitor is much more sleek and the base doesn't take up much room on the desktop.
The picture colors are very bright and clear with the blacks coming in very deep and dark.
The upgrade in refresh rate was the most important for my son's gaming and it did not disappoint. He said there is minimal to no lag even when playing the most intensive FPS games. I'm sure in the future he will want to upgrade to a !00hz or above monitor but for now at this price point ($119 on sale) this monitor is perfect for our needs.

wanted upgrade from old cannon..didn't get it
on April 9, 2019
Posted by: internetuser
from Placerville
I had an older version of Cannon printer (mx470) that was starting to malfunction often so i looked to this 4210 to upgrade.
I thought the mega tanks were an awesome upgrade from those pesky cartridges that I was constantly changing and they are. During setup I must have printed 30 or more pictures to fine tune the settings and also tried letter paper printing, envelope printing, and much more and the tanks haven't even budged. I can't imaging how much I can print with these huge tanks before having to add more ink. So that is a plus.
The speed , quality of pictures and overall performance are all about the same. For a family that just prints a few pictures a month, prints up homework, addresses envelopes it's just fine. The Wireless Direct is a nice feature also. My kids can do their homework on their laptops and send it wireless to the printer to print up. I can print pictures from my phone also. great feature!
One thing that was actually changed for the worse is the paper feeder tray. It used to be in the front for easy loading of different sizes an types of paper. Now if you have your printer on a shelf or against a wall you have to feel your way around to get the different size paper or photo cards into the slot. there is a sliding paper guide that you must open or close to the size of the paper. So not being able to see the guide you must feel around behind the printer to adjust it. Then you would think that since you adjusted the paper guide the printer would know the paper size, but NOOOO, you then have to go to the menu screen to select your paper type and size. Which leads me to the worst part of this printer.
*THE MENU SCREEN*
The menu screen has also not improved in 5 years since I bought my older Cannon printer. It has actually got worse. It has always been tiny but at least previously you could tilt it up to get a better view of it. But not anymore it lays flat towards the back half on top of the printer. So if you have your printer on a shelf above your computer (see pic) good luck trying to see it. Also it is not back lit so have a flashlight handy to light it up so you can see it.This was my biggest gripe when I reviewed my old one and Cannon has not improved it.
Hopefully the mega ink tanks will make "upgrading" to this printer worth it but unless several improvements are made in future printers I probably wouldn't invest in another Cannon.

great sound, ok fit
on February 13, 2019
Posted by: internetuser
from Placerville
trying these Jaybird - RUN XT Sport right out of the box was not a good fit for me. Luckily they come with several choices of ear cones and fins that can be changed to fit your ears. I have tried several combinations of cone and fin and cannot find the perfect fit. The cones either fit to tight where my ears feel like they are going to pop or to loose where they feel like they will fall out of my ear. I am currently using the #1 cone with the #3 fins and even though they haven't fallen out while walking and exercising I constantly find myself pushing on them because they feel loose like they could fall out. Maybe I have strange ear sizes but I will continue to adjust til I find the perfect fit.
Sound quality is what you all want to know about so i will say the Jaybird - RUN XT Sport puts out great sound. I listen to music from country to rap and they all sound amazing. Music with deep bass comes through clear and deep and lower bass more vocal music also comes through neat and clean with these earbuds. There is an app which allows you to change settings for different sounds and music but I found the levels right out of the box were set just fine with me.
These are very easy to charge with the including carry case/ charging station. They advertise a charge lasting up to 4 hours but I have not come close to wearing these earbuds that long and have never used up all the battery life. the other nice ting is the carry case holds a charge so if you are out with no place to charge your buds , just inserting the buds into the case will charge them a couple of times before the case runs out of life.
The control buttons are a little hard to use. You must push the buttons on the outside of the buds to answer calls, change the volume, skip songs, and pause music. its not a soft touch button either and must be pushed with a little force. So for me who has a hard time with fit I hate changing music or answering calls because the buds get pushed more into my ear and I have to readjust every time after pushing a button. When out for a walk I just let my playlist play and dont answer calls to avoid any movement after I get it in a position I like and it feels comfortable.
These may just take more time to get used to because my last wireless buds had a wire that went behind my neck which gave me a little security that if the a bud fell out of my ear it wouldn't hit the floor and possible break. I am going to have to learn to trust the fit and stop fidgeting with them.

amazing video
on October 12, 2018
Posted by: internetuser
from California, USA
This is my first go pro and it seems I got in at the perfect time. I got this about a week before going to Disneyland as I thought it would be perfect for recording us on rides. It was amazing.
If this is your first Go Pro like me you will find it very hard to learn about it. The only instruction that come with it are a series of pictures that tell you how to open the case(very hard), install the battery and SD card, and charge. After that you are on your own.
So after many hours of you tube research (which there wasn't much on the 7 black yet because it was just released) I was ready to take it to Disneyland.
I figured while being on roller coasters , water rides and speeding "Cars" that the picture would come out shaky, mainly because I was screaming and shaking the whole time, but when I downloaded the video to my laptop and watched it, the picture was incredibly stable and very clear due to the hyper-smooth image stabilization. It was like watching a Disneyland 4k commercial.
We took it on water rides and purposely got it as wet as could be to see how water proof it was and never had a problem with recording.
The biggest problem I found was that the battery only lasted not even 1/2 of our first day there. By the afternoon the battery was dead and had to head back to the hotel to charge it. I will definitely buy the double battery charger and extra batteries to have at the ready when the battery dies. Also if you do not plan to use the go pro around water you can take the charging door off for easier access to the port without having to take the whole case off which can be frustrating and very hard.
I did not have time to learn the live streaming capability to Facebook live but will definitely use that function in the future. What a cool way to share your experiences with friends and family.
It also comes with a voice command to turn on or off the video or to take a picture. I found that this doesn't work well in noisy areas as I had to repeat "start recording" several times before it would turn on.
There are so many other things I want to do with this camera that I should have waited 6 months or longer to review it but the main reason i wanted to post now was the amazing stable video you can shoot with this is definitely worth the money.
