I would like to use the alarm (music alarm) feature on my iphone 6+ and SoundDoc XT would this work?

Yes, You can use your iphone alarm to you up and your neighbor. Bose is loud.

will my ipod classic work in this sounddock xt? do i need bluetooth?

Yes, you can either connect an external blutooth or you can buy a connector from lightning to 30 pins connector.
