The all-new Magic Trackpad 2 has been enhanced to deliver more comfort and functionality than ever before. It includes a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that charges fast, lasts about a month or more between charges, and eliminates the need for disposable batteries. With the included Lightning to USB cable, you can charge your device and automatically pair it with any Mac.
My mouse was getting really old and starting to work poorly even with regular cleaning, so I was in the market for a new one. As I am a Mac user, I went to the Apple site to see if they had anything, and I happened upon the Apple Magic Trackpad 2. I frequently have to use a computer at work, so I was also having some repetitive stress issues, and the idea of not having to grip a mouse appealed to me.
All the same, I was apprehensive about moving away from a mouse for two reasons: 1) I wasn't sure I could easily perform all the same functions (click and drag, for example) without any buttons; and 2) I was worried the new trackpad might not be compatible with my older iMac (early 2009).
Happily, I can report that neither of these things proved to be a problem. The trackpad allows one to perform all the actions you would do with a mouse by letting you press down to simulate a click. Pressing with two fingers is a right-click. Even clicking and dragging is easy to do using two fingers. Additionally, I have had no issues with connectivity with my iMac, and so far the battery seems to have a long life. I have only had to charge it (by connecting it to the computer with a USB cable) about once every two weeks.
All in all, it was a great purchase and well worth the price. I have even experienced less discomfort in my wrists. I will most likely buy another trackpad rather than a mouse when this one dies.
