Like so many others I had trepidation going into the remake/re-imaging of Robocop. After all the original is a cult classic and the announcement of a toned down PG-13 rating for the newest version took a lot of wind out of the excitement sails. But at the end of the day the new Robocop is a decent slice of cinema. My suggestion: View it as a different story (not a remake) and there's enough changes made to allow it to stand on it's own two feet. Like many newer blu-rays the picture/sound quality is stellar. Give this new Robocop a chance. You might just be surprised. I enjoyed it enough to add it to my collection.
I was torn between getting the 3D theatrical release or the 3D extended edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I know inevitably once all of the movies have been released there will be a collector set with all of the bells & whistles. Best Buy had the 3D theatrical set for $15 which made my decision an easy one. The quality of the 3D is decent (Smaug delivers it better) & if you are a fan of 3D I think you'll be happy with the quality. If I end up with all 3 theatrical editions in 3D and get the extended edition box set when it finally comes out I'll be content. These types of movies are always subject to double & triple dipping by the studios so I like to be smart with my money.

What's great about it: Good price
What's not so great: Extended edition has all the extras
I went back & forth trying to decide which version of The Wolverine to get on Blu-ray. I saw it in the theater & was interested in seeing what the extended cut added to the film. The only way to get the extended cut is to get the 3D set. I was on the fence but ended up pulling the trigger. I'm glad I did. The extended version doesn't change the film radically but it does add enough IMO to warrant seeking it out.
