I received my new band a week ago tomorrow. I charged it fully when I got it, and have worn it continuously since then. It still has more than 50% battery life! I love the new features on this band. I replaced my 3 year old Flex, which I have also loved, because it was not holding a charge for very long any more, and it didn't want to sync with my phone. I love the hourly reminders to move more as well. I also purchased the pinkish leather band, so far, loving it as well.

Does the fitbit alta show the actual number of steps, or does it just show dots representing the steps like the fitbit flex does?

It shows approximate steps, ie 1.5k, 2.2k, etc. You still need to look at your phone or sync to the computer to see the exact number of steps.
