Mark Sandman. Ahead of his time but also behind. An enigma to a music scene hooked on post-grunge, techno, and pop. But they were there. They existed.
Released 10 years after their depressing swan song "The Night" this collection of live performances and alternate cuts draw you into a world that doesn't exist. We lost Mark Sandman in 1999 just as the group was digging deeper into this sublime mixture of jazz, rock, and beatnik poetry.
It sounds like a novelty but it isn't. This collection is essential for fans of the group wanting more. They are here. They are at your service. One disc plays out as a live album. The other has the studio recordings. It's nearly set up. As a diehard fan, I love it. Those curious should immediately purchase "A Cure For Pain" and "Yes".
They were a wonderful group and this collection gives everyone the closure we needed. The Sandman lives on.
