Disappointed. Temperature Variations a Concern.

I really wanted to be impressed with this, but temperature inaccuracies are a concern.
The basics:
The TempSpike is a wireless internal temp probe device with 2 spikes for either 2 items being cooked or placement in 2 locations in a larger cut of meat. The device operates off longer-range Bluetooth 5.2, paired with your phone, and claims an “up to” 500 feet range, which I found substantially less.

The device operates off longer-range Bluetooth 5.2, paired with your phone, and claims an “up to” 500 feet range, which I found substantially less.
Starting with the basics, it charges using an included (very short) USB-C, charging the base (“Booster”) then charges the spikes. Each spike is color-coded (white and black), and can be set individually to different temperatures, for example if you wanted 1 steak medium rare and another medium well, to ensure different cooking times, or used in the same cut, for example the flat and the point of a brisket. The package also comes with a wire brush for cleaning the probes.
As for the biggest point – temperature accuracy. I found both probes to be 8-10° off (low) internally during cooks with steaks and pork butt. I tested along the entire length of the probe with 3 different “instant read” thermometers – one of which is from ThermoPro itself – and were consistently low. That creates a major issue in that if you’re looking for a steak at a certain temp, say medium rare (130-135°), if it’s actually 140° when you take it off thinking it’s 130°, you’re already overcooked. The external “ambient” temps also varied greatly, but chalk that up to my smoker and where the probes were. But seeing that INTERNAL is the most important number, being off by 10° makes a huge difference.
The base pairs with ThermoPro’s app, allowing you to control the probes, see battery levels, etc. The app also has several presets built-in, which are JUNK. For example, a preset for “beef, medium rare, 140°”. Medium rare is 130-135°, and you usually want to pull a steak at 125° and rest it, where it will continue to cook up to the desired temp. By choosing the preset at 140°, by the time it alarms & you pull it, you’re at 140°, will likely cook up to 145-150°, which puts you close to medium well. Nothing like ruining a steak when using a $120 thermometer. If you use this, you absolutely MUST create your own presets (you cannot change their built-in ones) so you don’t overcook the meat. (Note, there is a “temp pre-alarm” setting in the app where you can set it to alarm in 5° increments before the meat is done, but this is “off” by default and takes some digging to find). Also, you cannot set any of the temps from the base, all settings must be controlled through the app, so you’re forced to use it, like it or not.
On 2 steaks I was cooking, one probe “locked up” in reporting its temp, so it sat reporting 116° in the app for several minutes while the other one was saying it was done. I had to force-close the app, restart it, and it immediately alarmed that it was at 134°. So had I not been watching, and relied on an alarm that was never going to come, I would have had a piece of charcoal to serve. When I looked at the base & the displayed temp, it was correct, so it was something with the app (note I left my phone next to the base the whole time, so it wasn’t a Bluetooth range drop out that caused it). Seeing this was on my 1st cook with the thing, it didn’t give me a lot of confidence.
As for Bluetooth reach, I found the 500 foot claim to be substantially off. On my multi-hour pork cook, I often had disconnects just walking inside while the smoker was on the front driveway, not far from the house. The distance is obviously limited by any obstructions like bricks on a house or metal, so having it drop out just walking into the kitchen was disappointing.
The spikes are also fairly large in diameter, so you’ll be limited to using this on very thick steaks (at least 1.5”) or large cuts like a brisket or pork butt. This isn’t something you can throw in a standard chicken breast or use with ribs, thinner steaks, etc. So this will not replace an instant read (and frankly, with the temp variation, I’d still recommend an instant read as a cross-check). You also have to insert the spike over 2.5” into the meat to avoid damaging the probes, so again, won’t work on smaller/thinner meats.
Battery life for the probes was fine. Both lasted a full 10+ hour cook on pork with battery life to spare, so likely would even work for a 15+ hour brisket.
In summary, the temp variation with the probes makes this an unreliable device for me. Will I use it with custom presets set lower than expected temps, then obsessively probe with an instant read as it’s approaching the desired temp? Sure. But something sold for the explicit purpose of telling me a temperature should be a lot more accurate out of the box without having to “hack the temps” to ensure I don’t overcook. And hey, ThermoPro, maybe have someone programming your presets who actually knows what the corresponding internal temps actually should be (or let us change the presets so we don’t have to have a ton of custom presets, resulting in 3 pages of presets to scroll through).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Value, Couple of Missing Features

The Insignia (Best Buy’s store brand) iPad stylus is an excellent low-cost alternative to Apple’s high-priced Pencil, albeit missing a couple of features.
Out of the box, the stylus immediately works with your iPad, no pairing through Bluetooth is required. Turning the device on is done with a tactile-only button (non-mechanical) button at the top you double-tap to toggle on & off, with the added benefit of an always-on LED next to the USB-C port to tell you battery life (white-blue-red for different battery percentages). I found the always-on LED extremely helpful, because using other companies’ styluses without this have left me with a dead stylus, unaware of the battery condition and no “in your face” reminder you need to charge it later tonight.
The pencil is well-balanced, a good weight for writing and drawing, and has a single flat surface to prevent rolling off, otherwise is round and non-grooved, so it’s comfortable to hold and use for longer periods.
The stylus also will also attach magnetically to the outer bezel of your iPad, but you do have to find the “sweet spot” on certain iPads (I have a full and a mini) to fully attach and hold firmly.
The box includes a short USB-C charging cord and extra stylus.
Features it is missing, however, would include pressure sensitivity (for thicker/thinner lines depending on how you’re pushing on the screen), no tilt detection, and no button for toggling between tools or, like other styluses, for becoming an eraser without having to manually select an eraser in whatever writing/drawing app you’re using. That said, at the price point (about 1/3 of the Apple-brand device), these are acceptable tradeoffs if you’re simply using this to take notes or navigate your tablet. I also am not a huge fan of the USB-C port being constantly open with no cover, and I see it picking up dirt and debris from my backpack over time.
Bottom line is that this is a great, low price point stylus for doing the basic tasks you do daily with your iPad.

Big Keyboard in a Small Package

The K65 Plus Wireless 75% is a nice substitute for a full-sized keyboard, especially where desk space is at a premium, not only saving space, but giving multiple connectivity options depending on your needs at the time (you can switch between them on the fly and aren’t locked in to 1 connectivity option).
Starting with the keys themselves, which are Red linears, making them smooth and quiet, but in standard Corsair style are completely replaceable if you want to replace them with any other switches (Corsair includes a switch puller tool in the box). They also feature full RGB, controlled through Corsair’s iCue software, which picks up on the device instantly and allows for lighting color and configuration.
You have 3 options for connecting the keyboard to your computer – wired (with the included USB-C cable, 2.4 GHz wireless with the mini-USB dongle (which stores nicely on the back side of the keyboard), or Bluetooth. If you choose Bluetooth, it can pair with up to 3 Bluetooth devices, and you can toggle through those devices with 3 of the function keys along the right side of the keyboard. Modes (BT, wireless, off) are toggled with a 3-position switch on the keyboard. Additionally, lighting is controlled with a small button on the left side of the keyboard to save power. (Note, if you’re not aware that lighting button is there, you’ll think the lighting doesn’t work on your keyboard. Take it from experience.)
The keyboard features a rechargeable battery that Corsair says will last up to 266 hours, but I never got it run all the way to the full 266 hours before recharging just to avoid losing power mid-game. I clocked around 160 hours and it was still showing a “medium” battery level (21-40%) on the wireless dongle, so battery appears to be no real issue. As mentioned, you can move between wired & wireless seamlessly, so even if you get low on battery, you can plug in, even mid-game, and keep playing (and charge at the same time) on the fly. The battery pack adds a good amount of weight to the keyboard, so it does make a fairly small keyboard somewhat heavy at a full 2 pounds total.
Latency was nearly non-existent. I wasn’t able to discern any appreciable delay in time between keystroke and how it behaved in the game. FPS games were quick, looking around or changing modes or weapons were almost as good as with a wired keyboard in all modes. The most lag seemed to occur in Bluetooth mode, but had to do more with how far I was from the computer and if anything was between the PC and the keyboard to interfere with the Bluetooth. Performance in that regard was much better with the wireless dongle, which was my main go-to.
The keyboard is designed to support multiple gaming and computer platforms, though I only tested it with PC. There is a 2-way switch to move between Win and Mac, but also supports PS and Xbox consoles, per Corsair.
Now the Nitpicking:
Because they crammed 100% of the keys into a 75% form factor, they also crammed all the “functions” onto them, as well, so there are A LOT of things printed on the individual keys, almost too much. It makes for really cluttered looking letter and number keys. The top row number keys, for example, have 4 different function things printed on them. Just a lot going on. Not to mention a lot of the keyboard-printed features were redundant – keyboard brightness, for example, can be controlled with the built-in controller wheel but they included up & down buttons separately (pretty sure this is due to not being able to use iCue if you’re using this with gaming consoles, and the wheel customization requires iCue, so basically to cover everyone we end up with 3 ways to do everything and way too many things printed on the keys).

The Corsair button takes the place of the traditional “ESC” button in the upper-left corner, and is a bright, reflective silver color whereas the rest of the switches are a subdued grey. It is oddly distracting, and makes no sense why they did that.
The switches themselves are SUPER quiet, and is one of the things that Corsair touts as a feature. No complaints at all, but I did find the Corsair Reds a little too resistant for me, and I’ll likely replace them down the road with something else that’s a little less springy. But this is all personal preference – everyone has their own preference in switches in terms of resistance and sound.
Overall, I’m happy with the keyboard. It’s replaced my full-sized Corsair K100 on my cramped desk with my flight sim set up, and moved the K100 to my other non-flight sim gaming PC. I will be replacing the keys, but again, nothing wrong with them, it’s just a personal preference thing where I like feeling & hearing the switches being pressed.

Amazing Drone with Incredible Flight Time

The DJI Air 3 is a perfect, mid-level drone for those who don’t need all the professional bells & whistles of the top-of-the-line (and price tag) Mavic, but don’t want to sacrifice good quality photo and video images lost with the lower-end Mini, along with loss of other features like collision avoidance.
Note: I’m an FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot, so I’ve picked apart a lot of the issues for a detailed review.
What stands out, however, about the Air 3 is the new 45-minute flight time battery (optimum condition), which blows every other DJI drone out of the water, and with the Fly More combo now gives you over 2 hours of flight time without having to buy another battery or stop to recharge once. Having owned a Phantom 4 Pro and a Mini 2, both capped at 30-minute batteries, this a complete game changer for those of us looking to spend a full day working on capturing video.
There are specific pros, and very specific cons. I’ll list those in bullet format with elaboration for ease of reading…
Pros:
- O4 transmission: Now gives you “up to 20km (12.5 miles)” of transmission distance between remote & drone. The FAA limits you to line-of-sight, so no way to easily test this, but I did test this to almost a full mile out, and had ZERO drop out in either drone navigation or the video transmission back to the screen. On the Mini & other drones, I routinely got pixelation & complete dropouts of both video & signal, causing drone return-to-home. This is the best transmission quality I’ve seen.
- New DJI RC 2: Uses the Occusync 4.0 to give you that great distance, but also incorporates the video feed into remote, meaning no more pairing your phone & trying to hang it off the top of the controller. Everything is now all-in-one.
- Two cameras: Give you 2 different options for shooting videos – wide angle and a standard angle with zoom capability.
- Extremely stable in wind: The first day I tested it, I did so in 24mph winds and barely noticed any issues with stability. The only thing I noticed was a slower travel speed in headwinds.
- New adaptive “Return to Home” (RTH): Previous RTH was set to automatically stop, ascend to the set altitude, then return to the start point, and descend, eating a lot of battery, especially if you’re already low. New adaptive RTH will now ascend only to the height needed to safely RTH, no matter the RTH height set. But it will not exceed the height you have set, so safest to set this to 400’ (max height allowed in the US).
- Full 360-degree collision avoidance: Unlike the previous Mini, the Air 3 has full 360-degree collision avoidance, plus avoidance downward. Options can be set in the software to either avoid & move around an object or stop and let the pilot choose a path.
- Underbelly Scene Light: There is a bright LED on the underbelly for lighting either camera shots (straight down) or landing.
- Remote ID Built In: With the FAA requiring “Remote ID” for drones over 249 grams starting next year, this is already built in. No firmware update or hardware installation needed.

Cons (yes, there are some):
- The camera touts an option for 12mp or 48mp options, but the only real option is 12mp. The 48mp is reached through an AI algorithm that essentially up-qualities the photo to give you a fake 48mp.
- The controller does not come with any spare knobs. Previous “Fly More” packages came with at least 1 spare set of screw-on set of knobs for the controller. The knobs screw off for storing the controller in the case, and only store using a rubber holder on the back of the controller, and have the ability to fall out. Do yourself a favor & order a spare set off DJI or Amazon right now.
- The soft-sided carrying case does not protect the propeller studs, and the seem to drag going in & out of the case, risking bending and breaking them over time. I’d like to have seen caps for the prop studs to protect them for the tight space the drone goes into in the case.
- (Not really a con, just a note): It is over 249g, so legally you DO have to register it with the FAA’s DroneZone website. While this was a “you really should” in the past, with Remote ID going live, note that you can now be tracked publicly by anyone, including the FAA. If you’re not registered, you can be fined for not registering your drone. It costs $5 for 3 years, so just do it. It’s better than the fine.

Beyond the pros & cons, DJI’s built-in features include the usual, including different modes for speeds for the drone, the ability to load a pre-set waypoints for the drone to follow & launch it into an “auto pilot” mode to follow autonomously (previously only available on Mavic and Phantom Pro), and multiple pre-set scenes if you’re not sure how to start off or are just looking for a quick shot without manually setting all your camera settings.
Summary: The Air 3 is an amazing drone with almost every feature of the more expensive Mavic series at a more affordable price point, with great flight time.

Best Key Light I've Ever Used

This light beats a ring light HANDS DOWN. This is the first light I’ve owned that didn’t make me look like a ghost or like my skin was some odd shade. It took me about 2 minutes of playing with the settings to get a perfect color tone and brightness adjustment that no other key light or ring light has been able to do. Now on to the details…
PROS:
- Low profile, but gives you the full lighting of a ring light
- Rear RGB panel enhances gaming or music experiences
- Auto on/off when your camera activates
- Mountable horizontal or vertical
CONS:
- Only 1 wiring clip on the light, despite 2 wires
- Can’t easily change from horizontal to vertical orientation (have to unscrew)
- Low profile, but gives you the full lighting of a ring light
- Rear RGB panel enhances gaming or music experiences
- Auto on/off when your camera activates
- Mountable horizontal or vertical
CONS:
- Only 1 wiring clip on the light, despite 2 wires
- Can’t easily change from horizontal to vertical orientation (have to unscrew)
The Logitech Litra Beam LX is a dual-sided key light, providing lighting for your live streaming or web meeting needs. The front-facing side provides adjustable color temperature settings from 2700-6500K, as well as variable brightness to adjust to your needs depending on placement, but the back side also gives you a full-range RGB “LightSync” to enhance your gaming and streaming.
Starting with the forward-facing lighting, the huge advantage over standard ring lighting is its lower profile, being a single, low-profile bar measuring only 1.5” tall while giving you 16” of lighting width, so you avoid the size issue with the full diameter rings without sacrificing lighting diffusion or quality. The diffuser panel over the light surface does an excellent job of spreading the light as if it were a full ring to get a full spread of light, so your entire face is well lit during livestreams.
The accompanying Logitech G-Hub software also allows you automatically set the light to activate anytime the camera turns on (and off when the camera turns off), so no more manually finding buttons on the light each time, which I absolutely LOVED. This works with ANY camera, not just Logitech cameras – it worked with the built-in camera on my laptop, though I am working with a separate Logitech HD C920 camera for better quality. And while you technically don’t need the software to make the light work, settings for the rear LightSync require it.
The rear RGB panel has a variety of modes, from just random flashing patterns you can choose pattern styles and colors with, to screen sync modes that select sectors of your screen and choose the projected colors based on your screen, to an audio visualizer that will flash change colors based on the beats of the music or the game you’re playing. You can set multiple different profiles in the software, for example one for each game, so if you want one game to have a certain color pattern and another to play with an audio visualizer, you can have that automatically set in the G-Hub. The software detects the game you’ve launched and chooses the appropriate profile and sets the colors accordingly. Of course, you can also choose to have no back lighting colors if you’re in a more professional environment, as well.
The light is mounted on a weighted, height-adjustable base, and can be mounted vertically or horizontally, and easily adjusted to sit above my 22” monitor plus clear the webcam mounted on top of the monitor. The light attaches to the base with a tripod-style mounting screw, and if you want to change from horizontal to vertical mount, you’ll have to unscrew the mount and screw it into the mount on the end of the light. The light is powered with a standard 110V plug, and also comes with a USB-C/USB-A cord if you want to use the LightSync capabilities (not required, key settings can technically be controlled from the buttons on the device itself, except for the auto on/off and LightSync options).
Note also
The only one issue I have with the light is they provide a single clip on the light for wiring, yet there are 2 wires that have to run down the light (power and USB). They cheat and account for this with a rubber clip on the power wire to clip the USB wire to, and I really would have liked to have seen them put a second dedicated clip on the device itself for cable management instead of cheating like that.
Bottom line: This is a GREAT replacement for ring lights, one that takes up far less space, is much more configurable, and works automatically when you activate your camera. Kudos, Logitech.

Great Powerful Blender

The Ninja Blast is a powerful portable blender perfectly capable of quick & easy on-the-go smoothies or protein shakes via a USB-C rechargeable base.
The slim design makes the device easy to throw in a bag for the gym or work, and drinks are ready in 30 seconds with the preset blend mode (no settings to choose or time to set), though I did find I had to run the device twice when I used it with the larger ice from my automatic ice maker on my freezer to fully blend the ice down.
The lid securely locks down and seals around the drinking spout with a rubber gasket, ensuring no leakage when you’re carrying it around, but easily pops open with a simply push of a button.
The drink vessel is marked to a “max fill” of 18 ounces, but you MUST allow for expansion of contents, especially protein powders. For me, 8 ounces of milk, a scoop of protein powder, a half banana, and a couple ice cubes maxes the container out, so make sure you under-estimate your contents when blending so you don’t overfill.
The device does a very good job of fully blending protein powder, leaving very little powder on the sides of the drink container like a lot of other blenders do. Smoothies are also excellent, whether made with fresh or frozen fruits.
If you’re using multiple solid/semi-solid/liquid ingredients, make sure you follow Ninja’s recommended order for placing ingredients for best results (liquids on bottom, fresh fruits next, frozen items on top, etc.). Specifics are listed in the instructions.
Cleaning is a breeze. When I get to where I’m going, I throw some water & soap in the vessel, run a single blend mode (30 seconds), empty it and it’s good to go. The drink container is also dishwasher safe, though the motor base is NOT – get yourself a brush for this (be careful hand-washing it, the blades are VERY sharp, trust me on this one).
My only complaint comes down to the awkwardness of drinking with the heavy base attached. Once you’ve blended your drink, you’ll be drinking with the full motor and battery until still attached to the base, which makes it somewhat heavy and tall (though it’s still narrow enough to fit in your vehicle’s drink holders). And no, you can’t unscrew the drink container from the base as a way around that (like you might a full-sized blender), as the drink container is open at the bottom for the blades to pass through, so the only option is to leave it attached to the base.

I’m very, very happy with this blender, despite the heavier base. I love throwing a quick shake in the car on the way to work or blend a banana into my protein shake after working out at the gym. Ninja has once again hit a home run.

Wanted to Love, but Limited Functionality

First and foremost, the device is solid, with bright and beautiful buttons that are clear and easy to see and use. Razer did a nice job with the design, until I realized that they essentially just repackaged a limited-use Loupedeck device, and that’s where the thrill wore off.
The initial install requires the installation of a Razer product that then leads to it installing the Loupedeck configuration app, which is what you’ll use to control the buttons that you interact with. Many of the buttons come pre-configured, including many Twitch actions you’ll commonly use during streaming, and work once you link your Twitch account in the Loupedeck software. The Twitch actions were one of the few packs of buttons that made sense for this device, where there were buttons configured to take you between screens for other actions.
But since I don’t stream 24/7, and do a lot of photo and video editing, I was excited to use this for macros for Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. This is where it went off the rails.
Razer/Loupedeck comes with several pre-configured macro packs for each of the Adobe products, but don’t have the left & right arrows (like on the Twitch mode) for going between screens of additional actions. Why? Well, Loupedeck’s native device has dials on it that allow you to scroll between the different screens, so arrows aren’t needed. Here, they ARE needed, but not available. So you’ll have to manually create them for each individual screen, sacrificing 2 buttons per screen to add them.
Additionally, once you’re in a profile on the device, you HAVE to go back into the Loupedesk program on the desktop to bring you back to the “home screen”. The process is clunky, and that’s being nice.
Out of the box, you’ll be able to do very basic streaming actions if you’re using Twitch. There are no pre-created app packages for YouTube or Rumble streaming, so you’ll have to create your own buttons and macros to complete individual steps, and the curve to get up & running there is steep.
I think this would have been a better device with a standalone app for doing the configuration. It seemed like Razer wanted to brand something, but didn’t want to create it, so just leaned on Loupedeck’s existing tech to finish their homework. You simply cannot take the functionality of Loupedeck, which relies on buttons and knob navigation, and compress that into a device without said knobs.
I really wanted to love this device. I’m going to use it, and I’ll certainly enjoy some of the Twitch features, but for anything past that, I’ll use another (name redacted) device.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Decently Powerful Laptop for Everyday Use

The HP Dragonfly Pro is a decently powerful PC for basic work functions and productivity. This version of the PC includes a 512 GB SSD hard drive and 16 GB of RAM, so it’s not going to perform as well using high-end CAD or video processing software, but was more than capable for my use for office apps and e-mail.
The device comes with a 14” screen, making it a more compact laptop than many others on the market, which made it easy to pack in my backpack. It was extremely lightweight and easy to carry at around 3 pounds.
Despite its size, it has a very nice full-sized keyboard that is a pleasure to type with. While it’s doesn’t have a number pad set of keys, they also didn’t try to squeeze in a ton of extra, unnecessary buttons, allowing for full-sized, well-spaced buttons. And it is nearly silent, even for a neanderthal like me who pounds hard on the keys. The touchpad and wrist rest are both large with plenty of room to comfortably type without your wrists falling off the edge.
USB: The laptop features 3 ports – all USB-C in size (there are *no* USB-A ports on the device, which is the way everything is moving anyway). Two of the ports are Thunderbolt USB-C slots and one is standard USB-C, with all 3 compatible with DisplayPort outputs for a spare monitor or projector and for charging the laptop. The device comes with a 96W USB-C plug brick and a USB-C cord, though I wish the cord was longer.
DISPLAY: The display is a touch display, of course, and is bright and crystal clear. Coming in at 400 nits max brightness, it is generally brighter than many other displays. The touch is responsive and exact and is compatible with Windows Ink styluses (my Wacom worked well with the screen, including variable pressure).
SOUND: The speaker features both top and bottom-facing speakers from Bang & Olufsen, with the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the laptop lifting it enough to give the bottom-facing speakers room to work. Despite being from a B&O, I found the sound tinny and hollow, though the bass is decent.
CAMERAS: I was disappointed with the low quality of the built-in camera, coming in at a mere 5 MP here in 2023. It also does not feature a shutter cover, rather can be “disabled” with a function key above the number key row (the “camera off” button does feature an LED indicator like your caps lock button would to let you know the camera is off). For a laptop with the word “Pro” in it, I was hoping for a better camera, seeing that “pro” in 2023 means A LOT of remote work and videoconferences. I’ll use my external USB camera and disable the built-in for meetings. There is a separate IR camera for use only with Windows Hello, allowing facial recognition for logging on (fingerprint log on is also an option, depending on your preference).
WIFI: The WiFi is 6E, so it’s compatible with the faster WiFi routers for better performance.
BLOATWARE: Like so many other Windows laptops, the laptop comes with a number of pre-installed apps and programs as bloatware. Sorry, but I don’t want to play Candy Crush on my laptop. Step 1 after getting this up & running should be recovering hard drive space by uninstalling unnecessary apps. HP also includes not 1, not 2, but FOUR (4) HP-specific apps. They really need to figure out how to consolidate their diagnostics and settings apps into 1 at some point.
SUMMARY: In summary, it’s a compact but reasonably powerful laptop for those who don’t need a ton of local storage or massive RAM. The screen is bright & easily seen, even in bright light.

Nice Functionality, Poor Shape Design Hard to Hold

“Crayon” is Logitech’s alternative to the Apple Pencil, designed to work with iPads 2018 and later. The Crayon works right out of the box with your iPad, and requires no pairing at all, which eliminates the need with other generic styluses that require Bluetooth pairing.
The device features an on-off switch, which allows you to conserve battery when not in use, with a 3-LED indicator that doubles as an “on” light and a battery level indicator. It recharges using a standard USB-C, which is not included, but this is being marketed directly to those who have a new iPad that already uses a USB-C cable.
The touch interaction with the iPad screen is smooth and extremely responsive. There is ZERO lag between the touch interaction and the interaction occurring on screen. Lines drawn follow the pencil in human-perception real-time as if you were actually drawing on paper. Line thickness is determined by the angle the Crayon is at, but I found this highly susceptible to the application you’re drawing/writing in. Some of the cheaper “fun drawing” apps available ignored the angle of the Crayon altogether, drawing a single thickness line no matter the angle, but did respond with thickening the link with harder pressure. Illustrator DID pick up on the angle, so your results may vary using this feature.
The design is both its greatest strength and greatest annoyance.
The pros of the design are the metal body and single-piece design. Being metal, this enhances its ruggedness, and makes it less vulnerable to damage or cracking from dropping or being tossed in your bag. The styluses are not removable and replaceable like you’d see on something like a Wacom, meaning no stylus to fall out on you. The Crayon tip looks thick enough to survive a drop, but wasn’t interested in testing that out myself. It has a “brushed aluminum” look to it, making it attractive overall.
The cons to the design are the shape of the Crayon itself. It’s oblong, resembling the shape and size of a carpenter’s pencil, presumably done to keep it from rolling off your desk when you put it down. While I appreciate that, it makes it unwieldy to hold. If you hold it too loosely, if wants to rotate around between your fingers, requiring you to hold it much tighter. It’s just not an ergonomic design for using for long periods of time writing or drawing. Likewise, since it’s a unique shape, it doesn’t fit in the Pencil slot on most cases. The only case that will accommodate this are the cases Logitech sells. So instead of being able to put the Crayon in the case and carry everything as one unit, I ended up leaving it in the box and carrying that in my bag to protect it.
Overall, it’s a decent iPad stylus for about half the price of Apple’s Pencil, so at the price point, it’s a good deal. I like the USB charging and ability to turn it off when not in use, but the size and shape of it made it awkward and uncomfortable to use over long periods of time. And the inability to stow it away in my case was also a frustration.

Good Quality Images, Lots of Handy Accessories

DJI’s next version of an action cam looks to take on the obvious juggernaut in the industry, and does a fairly good job, though with some definite limitations, but also so added features that their competitor doesn’t have.
The camera is slightly smaller than its competitor, though nearly similar in weight. The lens is large and circular, and oddly and inexplicably exceeds the footprint of the overall camera itself, protruding beyond the left and top of the camera.
Image quality is what you would expect of a DJI product. Crisp, clear images with very good stabilization, though did get some jitter when really bouncing it around while testing it out. In terms of stabilization, I think they may have a little more work to do, but for most people with most activities, you’ll get really good, smooth images out of the camera.
Video tops out at 4K, versus 5.3K in other cameras, but most of us using cams for videos are only uploading or processing in post at a 4K max since that’s what 99% of people are capped at, whether on their phones or TV, so this isn’t a negative, just worth mentioning.
I like say I have a love-hate relationship with the accessory mount. The genius part is its magnetic+clip attachment. The clips bite into the camera & hold the mount and accessories on, while the magnet built into it helps guide it into place if you’re trying to change things around without looking directly at it. You can put the mount on the bottom (standard), or on the side for vertical video, but ONLY with the included camera frame attachment that you have to slide the camera into (and you’ll find there’s no reason not to put it in the frame & leave it – you lose no functionality by leaving it in place). Also, the mount, since it’s magnetic, only attaches on one way, and like 2 magnets being put together, it will push the mount away if it’s put on backwards. Probably could have made 1 side magnet and the other side a metal to avoid this. As an aside, the mounts are slightly larger than GoPro mounts, but are configured to work with non-DJI mounts just the same.
The menus and options I think are easier to access & change than its competitor, with the added bonus that you can control the options from the front screen if you’re shooting selfie videos or cameras.
The Action Combo comes with a load of accessories, including a couple of mounts, a long, 4-foot mounting pole if you’re using this while skiing or other activity where you want the camera further away from you. The DJI app has the ability to digitally remove the pole from your videos, though I did see where it would occasionally miss a few pixels when moving it around and you could see the pole for a brief second. But in terms of shooting far, wide shots, this was a great addition.
Battery life blows away the competition. I was running over 1 hour of video per battery in an ice cold hockey rink (so there may have been some loss in capacity), and DJI claims you can get up to 160 minutes per battery, though I got nowhere near that, so presumably that’s with a variety of options changed in the settings, turning off LED displays, etc. I also appreciate that DJI (unlike others) included a battery charging bay and 3 batteries with this combo pack. Right out of the box, without any other purchases, you’re going to get about 90 minutes of shooting time per battery.
As with any 4K level camera, make sure you’re selecting a proper SD card for the device. You’ll want the fastest card you can find, and DJI has a list of supported cards, though note that anything in the high speed range will work.

The red flag here is that it’s not approved from Google, and moreover requires you to lower your security settings to allow untrusted apps (not downloaded from Google). Considering DJI’s headquarters location, this certainly is a concern, but if you want any level of live control over the camera or livestreaming capabilities, you’re forced to choose this app. Also, the app is different from the DJI Go app used for drones (which IS available from Google, oddly), so now I’m running 2 different DJI apps – one for my 2 drones and 1 for this camera. Would like to see them consolidate the apps together.

There is a lot of talk in reviews & on user boards about focus issues and blurry images. That is indeed a problem, and I did notice the issue out of the box. HOWEVER, if you update the firmware to the current version, it appears to fix it, and all subsequent photos and videos have been crisp & clear.
And the camera runs HOT. After a solid 90-minute shoot, the camera was noticeably (and almost concerningly) warm, and this was while shooting in an ice cold hockey rink. I haven’t had a chance to test it in the hot Texas sun yet, but imagine the added ambient heat will only add to the heat issues. Not sure if it’s the battery or the internals causing the temperature, but worries me about the long term life of the batteries.
There is also no accessory options in terms of add-ons (external mic, external light, etc.). While the built-in mic isn’t bad, there’s no option for say a lav mic to record narration while you’re doing whatever activity you are doing. Would have liked to see a 3.5mm mic port on it.
Summary:
This really is a good camera, though there are certainly a handful of issues and features that could be improved. The requirement that you have to have the app (no choice) yet the app is unverified concerns me. The heating up of the camera is also a concern. But with those issues, the camera is a great option if you’re looking for a good, small camera that comes not only with features but helpful accessories right out of the box.

Can i use a 256GB mirosd card?
I believe you can. But the key is that any SD card you use needs to be a "high endurance" card with a U3 rating for read/write speed, not just a standard card. Make sure if you're seeking a card out that you specify "high endurance". Otherwise you'll likely run in to issues, and when you inquire about it from Nextbase they'll blame the card.

I own a 2020 Ram 1500 with the fuse block under the hood. Can the hard wire kit be used on my truck? Will the Geek Squad install the hard wire kit for me?
It comes with a cigarette cord, but like any 12V cord, you can clip the end for the positive/negative ends & hard-wire it to a wiring block.

Does this come with a storage case? Manual states that it does, but I did not receive one.
No it does not. That would have been nice, especially for the cord, but no case is included with the device. (Note that I was able to get the cord in the processor bowl for ease of storage).

How can you use Surface Earbuds with Microsoft 365?
From my testing, they have very limited use with Office 365, despite advertised features. The "read your e-mails" feature only work if you're using the earbuds with Apple iOS devices, which is confusing why that would be the case. The "dictate" feature on Word works, but that is more a fact that these are microphones (Word will allow dictation with ANY microphone).

Why are the macro switches not blue like they are supposed to?
The keyboard comes stock with silver textured "game" buttons (G1-G6), but comes with 6 blue textured "stream" or macro buttons (S1-S6) you can easily swap out for. I think they realize the majority of people who use the hotkeys are still using them for gaming, thus still leave them as gaming keys with the same color scheme used with the swappable keys for your usual gaming. The ability to swap them to blue macro keys is certainly there, though, and can be done in less than a minute if you are using them for macros, streaming, or other use with the Stream Deck software.
