This is a rocking cd from start to finish with some great riffs and great attitude, but the critical acclaim they get overshadows the band that did it first. That band is Death From Above 1979, who's debut album that came out over 10 years ago pioneered the 2 member bass and drum indie hard rock sound. Royal Blood have seen their fair share of critical acclaim by touring with the Foo Fighters and getting praise for this unique sound, with zero acknowledgement to Death From Above 1979. I love Death from Above and feel they should get more of a due than they have gotten. Since I like Death from Above, I like this album as well, but more as a companion to the more superior released album put out the same year by the superior group Death From Above 1979. I'd recommend picking this up, but don't buy the hype that Royal Blood are the sole creators of this genre that other bands have paved the way from before.
Excellent change of form from this great psychadelic rooted Australian band. They've traded in their guitar driven sound for synths. This isn't always a good thing with some bands, but Tame Impala still manage to make great and catchy songs while not compromising the integrity of their music. They bring you on a musical trip where this album could be a drug to those looking to escape into a blissful state of euphoric melody. Their wall of sound is still here and layered to find so many intracacies upon repeated listens. Wonderful band, wonderful album.
great band with some great music, but this album encompases their 2 biggest strenghts: their songwriting and their musical ability. It pairs the 2 perfectly together by blending well written songs with a vast array of great jams that will make you reminisce about your favorite bands from the Eagles to the Grateful Dead, all while making their sound fresh and modern. This is a must buy for anyone looking for some great new music!
