This is the only immersion blender you should consider. It's chopped through everything I've thrown at it, and is comfortable to use. I've made some really lovely soups with it, chopping up fibrous and tough foods like sweet potatoes, ginger, spinach, etc. I've never had to use the "high" setting - "low" generally gets 'er done.

What's great about it: Extremely effective and powerful blender.
What's not so great: Only two speeds. Metal external housing, so can't use it on non-scratch resistant cookware.
I would recommend this to a friend!
