The legendary David Attenborough created the epic documentary miniseries Planet Earth, which became his pièce-de-resistance. The program plunges into, and canvasses, virtually every aspect of the global ecosphere, from the mountains to the oceans to the flora and fauna, one subtopic at a time - meanwhile reveling in atmospheric cinematography. By any standard, it qualifies as the most successful nature documentary ever shot, selling millions of copies and winning a host of international awards including four Emmys. Attenborough narrates. This box set contains the entire miniseries as it originally aired, plus numerous bonus features.
Fantastic film work in some of the most challenging places on earth. Nature on display with narration that keeps you focused on the program. Also, discounted pricing made this set a steal.
How can you go wrong if you watching a movie directed by Ridley Scott. Throw in Matt Damon in this more or less: one man show extravaganza and you have a near excellent rating. The only thing keeping it from that is all the great work from both men over their careers. It is just a fun movie to watch that has many elements in it - ranging from just plain funny to very dramatic at times. A very visual film, and just like Gravity, a satisfying ending.
This movie is without a doubt, the greatest visual experience that I've ever experienced, with cinematography that from start to finish is loaded with the most amazing screen shots producing stunning reference (demo disc) quality. The movie itself has been expertly directed and boast great performances by Tom Hardy and of course, Leonardo Dicaprio's will to survive a bear attack and more importantly, stay alive until he can get his revenge on the man who's wronged him. My only complaint is that I wanted more supplemental features, but I'm sure there will be a special edition in the future.
Terrific production values, very good acting and a successful interpretation of this period of time after the crucifixion. Every faction fighting for their beliefs, or holding on to power or just to sustain their way of life is demonstrated equally without prejudice. A good history lesson at least for many viewers, but wished there could have been a look into what the future brings since I fear this was the end of this programing after its cancellation on television.
The crime-fighting sheriff known as Lucas Hood (Antony Starr) returns in Season Three of this action-packed crime drama series. All ten episodes of Banshee's third season are included in this collection, featuring Lucas and his deputy partners Brock Lotus (Matt Servitto) and Siobhan Kelly (Trieste Kelly Dunn) and their often violent showdowns. Plotlines include showdowns between Lucas' team and felonious neo-Nazis, a kidnapping carried out by a returning character, and bloody conflicts involving various gangs in the city of Banshee.
This is one show that never fails to deliver on action and drama, or for that matter: features that make it a mature rated show. Season 3 continues with more of the same, but only intensifies the action - If you can believe that this is possible! However, my favorite part of the show is how every actor is an integral part of the story line - thanks to the writers who make it so! It's amazing that this cast gets overlooked for best ensemble cast, Great show that is a steal with low pricing on past season's, so what are you waiting for?
HBO's Emmy-winning epic about the glory days and decadent downfall of Ancient Rome is chronicled in this collection of 10 Blu-rays. Thrill to the exploits of men and women like Pompey Magnus (Kenneth Cranham), Julius Caesar (Ciaran Hinds), Lucius Vorenus (Kevin McKidd) and his willful wife Niobe (Indira Varma) as they make history in one of the ancient world's most storied metropolitan center.
Such a small investment to make (2 seasons make up the whole series) for such a great experience watching the rise and fall of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony and Cleopatra with a complete cast of actors playing both real and fictional characters taking you on a journey of ancient Rome that is just fantastic.
This action-adventure chronicles the escapades of a swashbuckling and brutal pirate, Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), his shipmates and his rivals in the early 18th-century Caribbean. The series is a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island," and is set 20 years before the events depicted in that literary classic.
Much like the History Channel's Vikings series, Starz decided to take on their own original series by creating the world of pirates and the island base that they congregate, sail from and return back to. While the first season basically set up this world and most of the characters that would inhabit it, the story line spent much of it's time watching men and women maneuvering for power and control by creating the needed alliances to make this happen. Season 2 continues to test these ties, but provides a back story for it's lead character that expands the show into so much more than just a pirate's life for me! P.S.: Like so many other Starz series – as always quality is top notch.
Adapted from characters created by beloved crime and western novelist Elmore Leonard, the series Justified stars Timothy Olyphant as Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens, who always brings the bad guys to justice, without a care for bureaucratic red tape. This release contains every episode from the show's final season.
Appreciation for all the good work over the years.

Although this show really never lived up to the first two seasons, if you love the great characters found in Raylan, Boyd & Ava - plus the great writing that almost never dissapoints, you have to be satisfied with a fitting end to life in Harlan for all the good guys and criminals both old and new. The show was always must watch TV for me, but I look forward to when I can find the time to watch it all over again. Maybe after the complete series is out for a while & the price is right!
This set brings together every episode from the fourth season of Hell on Wheels, the western series starring Anson Mount} as a veteran of the Confederate army who now works with a traveling group who assist the people creating the transcontinental railroad.
Although the current season has moved on to introduce some new characters, season 4 had some of its best moments with some of the old ones. Of course, Cullen Bohannon, Doc Durant & The Swede are the steady regulars, I was really pleased with Elam's return episode and blown away with Ruth's showcase as her world gets turned upside down episode. INCREDIBLE! It should also go without saying that technical marks are all 9's & 10's across the board for audio & video presentation scores! For a show that people feared was looking at cancellation after the second season, it has returned better than ever. Westerns will always be here to stay when done right.
In strife-torn Renaissance Florence, Leonardo da Vinci continues his search for the legendary Book of Leaves while warring against a new crowd of mortal enemies intent on squelching his genius and obscuring his past. 3-disc set includes episodes such as "The Blood Of Man", "The Blood Of Brothers", and "The Voyage Of The Damned".
I picked up the dvd version of this show mostly as a collector's item of one of my favorite shows. Although the quality is pretty good, get the blu ray version if you have a blu ray player. I love the packaging that both sets come in, plus I'm sure that if you give this series a chance, you'll probably love it as much as I do! Just as a side note, Starz does it again. I really like many of their series, such as Spartacus, Outlander, Black Sails, and others.
