For the most part, I like the Roku 4, it's easy to setup, easy to use and has a lot of channels to help cutting cable. My biggest gripe is that it seems to become unresponsive quite often requiring us to power fail the device. I honestly think that once Amazon and Google are done with their little temper tantrums with each other and Amazon Prime is available on the Nvidia Shield, we'll be getting 3 of those to replace the Roku's and even our HTPC's (we use the HTPC with Kodi and Kodi is not available on the Roku but is available on the Shield). The price difference makes this a no-brainer over the Shield when we decided to cut cable as we needed 3 of these, antenna, cable amp and two tuners, cable, etc. If you are just cutting cable, this is a great choice due to the features and price.

I had purchased the smaller version of this to test what I would be able to receive and it performed quite well. After UVerse decided they needed to jack up our rates...again, that was it, it was time to cut cable! I knew even at about 6 feet high, the smaller version of this antenna was picking up many channels so I decided to get this because of the larger size (better reception) and the mount (what can I say, I was done and didn't want to buy a separate mount). Assembly wasn't too bad, instructions honestly could have been better, but you can get the jist of it. I installed this in the attic and sort of kind of aimed it (read "yeah, it's in that direction I think") and was picking up 24 channels with 70% signal strength (you lose about 20% because of the roof). Now, cable is cut, the bill is gone and we don't miss it one bit! The picture quality blows away cable, you should see hockey via OTA, it's amazing! Go Preds! I ran cables to each of our 3 TVs and used a ChannelMaster cable amp/splitter mounted in the attic next to the antenna, which I also recommend. Not a good antenna

This antenna did not perform well at all. It was placed in several locations, windows, etc to try and get it to work. The amplifier did nothing at all. I've had the most luck making my own single bay Gray-Hoverman antenna from wire, screws, piece of wood and a balun. Don't waste your time on this one.

Rotor needed?
It's been a while since we purchased an antenna … they used to require rotors inside to turn the antenna. I see some are multi-directional, which obviously do NOT need rotors, but what about this style? Does it stay fixed in one spot or need a rotor to turn it?
This design is highly directional (actually all antennas are directional, it's just physics, those that say they are "multi-directional" just mean they don't have the signal reflector as this one does). Antenna rotors are still around and are in wide use by cable cutters such as yourself. So, if you are in a location where the towers are in different directions, you can try one of the "multi-directional" models, but it's all going to depend on your location, building, signal strength, etc.

A basic cable splitter will work however be advised there will be about a 3dbl signal loss. There are several splitter/amplifiers that you can use to overcome this.

Can you stack 2 of these facing 2 different directions and combine into one cable going into the house?
You "can", but it won't yield the results you would like. The physics of antenna behavior will cause the signals to cancel each other out. There is also signal loss at the connections.
