Mick and the boys caught live at the Beacon Theatre in New York, Oct/Nov 2006. The concerts were filmed by Martin Scorsese and released on DVD. this review is for the Deluxe Edition of the CD, I have not seen the film. The playlist draws heavily from the Some Girls album with four songs from that album, three of them performed in a row. Jack White, Christina Aguleira and Buddy Guy perform in guest slots during the show. Jack White does a decent job on 'Loving Cup'. Christina Aguleira has the pipes but the song chosen for her, 'Live With Me', does not really showcase her talent (I would of liked to hear her take on something like 'Tumbling Dice' instead). Buddy Guy does not disappoint, as he offers up a searing guitar and vocal performance on Champagne and R*efer'. Other highlights are 'You Got The Silver', 'As Tears Go By' and 'She Was Hot', along with all of the Some Girls tunes. Mick leaves out some choice lyrics in Some Girls and Sympathy for the Devil, maybe he is going PC on us. Sound quality is good. For a 2-cd set it is a good value.
What's great about it: Strong setlist, good value, Buddy Guy
