I always buy the "high-yield" ink cartridges, they last longer and are cheaper. I have a Canon printer and I find that I get the best performance if I use Canon ink. I most strongly recommend the high-yield cartridges, they last twice as long as the regular yield.

I have a mg 2420 canon printer and it states it only takes specific paper . does your Canon Photo Plus II high-glossy Photo 3.95x5.9 inch 100 count paper work with this printer? What is the canon stock #?
I have a Canon printer and instructions state to use Canon paper, but I have used other brands of paper, like Epson, HP, and I've even printed on plain index cards. If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to use a paper other than Canon. In fact, if you like the matte finish better, then go for it. I think it will work just fine.
