I recently purchased a 50 inch Plasma TV and was using my older surround sound system with it. Tho it was ok I just wasn't happy with the sound that I now had with such a great picture my Panisonic Plasma TV gave me. So back to Best Buy I went. I picked up a Sony STR-DG820 receiver, these speakers, and matched them all up with a Sony SAW2500 sub woofer and a Sony SSCN5000 center chanell speaker to keep evything on a equal par. Took the new system home, pulled out the old surround sound system and set up the new system to my TV, combined with a pair of Bose speakers I recently purchased and set them up as my back speakers. I followed tips from other reviews and tossed out the included speaker wire and opted for 16 ga. wire to get better sound. I then used the automatic calibration system that comes with the Sony reciever, then plugged in a Iron Man Blu Ray on my Sony PS3 and WOW! I was blown away. What a differance. Its better than what I remember from the sound you get in a movie theater. I can hear things I missed at the movies, and things I never heard from my old system. If your on a budget you wont be sorry to buy this set. If your made of money, go ahead and pay outragious $ to get the most expensive set you can. $ for $ I would put this system up against any system out there. Be it Polk, Klipsh, Yamaha or others.
These updated classics offer an extraordinary but affordable stereo listening experience. They're voice-matched for seamless integration with other Bose models in home theater applications.

All I can say is WOW!

We picked up a 50 inch Plasma TV a few weeks ago, and wanted to upgrade our older Sony entertainment surrond sound system we are using with it. We looked at a set of Polks and similar speakers, but we did not quite feel like shelling out $1,000 for a pair of speakers. We researched and found that the Bose although smaller and able to fit on a bookshelf. Should fit the bill for us. With the way they bounce the sound around we thought they should work well for us. We wanted the 301's but since they were not in stock so we opted for the 201's. We were not disapointed. WOW. These are matched up with my older Sony system, and with a DVD like Iron Man playing you will blow your socks off. We have sound everywhere just like hearing a THX system in a movie. I will likely pick up a smaller set of Bose for the back speakers now, and ditch the cheapo Sony spekers my old system came with. These are well worth the money. Go Ahead!
What's great about it: price, preformance, and the size
