Cheap price, unfortunately, cheap boom-box too

With all the many features in Insignia's mini boom-box, they left out a desirable feature: The speakers are too small and you can't compensate for that because there is NO bass/treble tone control. You have to accept their pre-set sound...I didn't and returned it to the store for a refund.

I had both "AS GOOD AS IT GETS" AND "SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE" on VHS in my collection. I finally had the chance to replace the videotapes with this 2-Pack DVD. Both are excellent Nicholson roles with Greg Kinnear putting in a remarkable performance in the first title and a classically funny Diane Keaton in the second title. If you have not seen either titles, I would strongly recommend you take this opportunity to add these two CLASSIC MOVIES to your collection .....while they last!

It is surprising the English birth-rate did not stagnate and decline under their social system.
Jane Austen does her 'magic' and relates the story of romance during this era with insight, historical accuracy and a good share of humor as the human instinct to find one's life companion cannot be deterred.

Out of work 'obnoxious' actor, Hoffman, takes the only job he could get after he auditioned for the part in 'drag'! BUT now.... he has to continue his charade, as an actress, to keep the job.
Sounds like an easy chore for the long-time out of work actor. But it gets complicated after he falls in love with his daytime soap opera co-star(Jessica Lange) and then, her father(Charles Durning) develops a crush on him. And let's not forget his long-suffering girlfriend(Teri Garr) who has been trying to figure out just what is going on.
You'll love this movie but just don't call him 'Tootsie', as Dabney Coleman came to regret.

Realistic look at the home-front during WWII......

If you grew up during WWII, you could vouch first hand, as I did, to the realistic portrayal of the era in this movie. The home front was desperately in need of workers to fill the critical wartime jobs vacated by our boys who were now fighting at the war front.
The price being paid by our men at war wasn't the only sacrifice that had to be be endured. There was also the human struggle of those left behind, the women and those men rated 4-F who would rather have been part of the service.
The separation from loved ones, communications interrupted by the conflict, the constant fear for their safety and the unbearable loneliness and wondering if they would ever return home to us. These emotional turmoils led to a constant search for relief from the strains of this stressful, unwanted way of life that had been thrust upon them.
The era of"'Swing Shift'" is made real by the authenticity of the settings, clothing, autos but mainly by the situations and portrayals of the character of the people and how they tried to cope under the events of the times.
This look at the home front, despite the gravity of the times, shows how some can be caught up in the struggle to survive, but how human nature, once the stress is over, returns us to the things that we held most dear and important in our lives. Love does survive...if we mutually choose.
"Swing Shift", although presented 'lightly' at times, will give you pause to not judge anyone until you have lived their life. Would you be able to forgive, under the circumstances portrayed in this film?

A funny, funny movie with a great cast. Surprise highlight of the film is Robert Preston as the 'drag queen' with the brilliant idea of grooming Julie Andrews to become the hit of the female impersonator club circuit in 1930's 'gay-Paris'.
James Garner suspects something is 'a-miss' so he and his tough-guy bodyguard, who has his own secret and played beautifully by Alex Karras, set out to determine just who is impersonating who.
Lesley Ann Warren rounds out this superb cast as Garner's girl friend, perplexed by her boyfriend's attraction to a female impersonator. This movie will keep your funny-bone entertained from start to finish.
Thank you Best Buy, for keeping this classic comedy available and at your usual reasonable pricing. I highly recommend adding this comedy, with some great musical performances, to your collection before it disappears.
