Like most Samsung products, it excels at its core function - playing Blu-ray and DVD movies. If you have an internet connection (wired) then you also get access to streaming entertainment. If your current tv isn't smart then this is one way of adding functionality to it.

First off; if you're thinking of using this to string extension cords through out your house or to plug in a bunch of high power devices - hairdryers, curling iron, hair straighteners AND run them all at the same time, DON'T. This is meant for plugging in up to six low or normal draw items - think dvr, dvd, blue ray and phone chargers. Or if you're going to plug in ALL those items I listed at the beginning then run them ONE at a time.

The cable works well and looks great doing it's job. The light does three jobs: 1) makes it look cool and 2) lets you know how much charge you phone has received 3) helps you find your phone in the dark. The heading says it controls 8 devices, yet everything I'm reading in the reviews says 5 devices. Also, when I look up the model number of the remote, I'm seeing 5 devices. Which is it?
Not sure where or what you're reading but it controls eight (8) devices.

Need to use Harmony 650 to set up new Samsung TV
Have Harmony 650 but have trouble setting up the TV and on another TV with a Harmony 650, cannot find certain data such as "my current recording schedule"
The current recording schedule button or List button is usually a function on your DVR not your TV. I don't recall if you can reprogram individual buttons on this model remote.

Samsung Smart TV Owners...
I got this today, and figured out how to make Activity Button "Watch a Movie" bring up the Smart Hub, everything was fine, it brought it up, I could select Netflix, play, pause, fast forward etc.
So not knowing to leave well enough alone, I wanted also the DirecTV DVR to be controlled by this remote and put it on Watch TV. Not sure it did anything, no channel changes worked even though some diagram I found said the buttons were programmed for the DVR.
Bottom line, now none of it works. I guess I will deleted both devices and start totally over. I am very confused.
Should I be able to have Smart Hub come up using an activity button and input "Smart Hub" as it is written on the choices for input, AND when watchnig TV have Menu be directtv menu, info be dirrect tv, channel numbers, channel up and down etc all be for direct tv?
Any clues, screen prints would be nice. Ironically I am retired computer tech and programmer LOL, though at 67 my brain may be on its way out. But this thing has me baffled right now. :)

If you're using the IR cable from the Samsung Smart TV to control the DTV box, the setup will likely keep failing. First disconnect the IR cable and rerun the TV setup and don't select the option for the Smart IR. Then make sure that the DTV box is in the line of sight for the Harmony remote

It will NOT work with the Amazon Fire. You'll need either the Harmony Ultimate or the Harmony Ultimate Home. The Harmony Ultimate One will NOT work.

does it work with early phillips model flatscreens?
this was our first flatscreen ....2007 model? will this remote work?
It's very unlikely that won't work. Harmony works with nearly all devices. You can confirm that it works before buying by checking Logitech's site at this link support.myharmony.com/en/compatibility

Are there buttons for everything common?
I was looking at it carefullly in the local B.B. and I couldn't see buttons for thing like: Return (back), Recall (previous channel) CC or the vrious 8 devices. The Sony 8-Device unit has these at less than half the price. What gives?
The Sony doesn't have macros. For example; if you have a tv, cable box, Blu-ray and a sound bar. You can program the watch tv button to turn all the devices on, set the tv to hdmi1, the volume control will control the sound bar and the channel button will control the cable box. Same idea for watch movie.

how do i exit messages
Not sure I'm understanding the question, so the answer may not be correct. If you mean the "help" messages on the remote screen, then one of the soft buttons (soft refers to the button changing functions and it's indicated by a message on the screen next to the button), press the button that says exit. Do we need a new remote because recently it takes 5 or more presses of the "All Off" button to shut down the system?
Our device is relatively new (about 2 years old). Our second Logitech Harmony 650 remote for our upstairs TV works perfectly well. Both of our Harmony 650 remotes were purchased at Best Buy.
Probably not. If you use the HELP button right after you hit the All Off and run through the process, after about the third time (you can do this by doing it multiple times in sequence) it will realize there is an issue and start a different "FIX IT" process and try to get everything back in order. Charter provides remotes with their equipment that require "line of sight" with their receivers. Are there any receivers available that are compatible with Charter equipment that don't require "line of sight"?
Yes, any of the radio frequency (RF) remotes from Logitech's Harmony series will work. You could also add an IR blaster (repeater) for about $30 .
