In failing health, William Hartnell had to relinquish his role as The Doctor, and this was his final adventure. This is also the first story to introduce the concept of regeneration, the ability for a Time Lord to escape death by creating a new body. The fourth and final episode is, sadly, missing from the BBC archives, but has been recreated in animation. The original reconstruction of episode four that appeared on the original VHS release is also available as a bonus feature.
This release presents the 51st story arc in the long history of Dr. Who, Spearhead From Space which starred Jon Pertwee as the title character. This was the first episode of the series to be shot on color film.
This is the only story from the 1963-89 original series to get a Blu-ray release. It's the debut of Jon Pertwee as the third Doctor, and introduces UNIT and series regulars for the mostly Earth-bound stories. With this story Doctor Who became about as close as it ever would to being an outright action adventure series. Great fun!
A followup to 1994's Volume one, this two-disc set gives you 27 tracks of songs and banter. Many of these song versions have never been officially released before. Also included are bonus interview tracks with each of the four band members! A booklet filled with information on each song's recording is included.
