Black Ivory produced beautiful, soulful ballads as well as combining funk, and disco during the mid 1970's to late 1970's. They represent one of the best male groups that were able to do that, while others succumbed to disco. Vocals, arrangement and production are exceptionally good. If finesse were a sound it would be Black Ivory. This compilation of two albums is their finesse.

The combination of Melba Moore's sweet, cheerful voice with Van McCoy's bright, upbeat production and arrangement could only brings music that brighten up my day. Whether ballad or uptempo, these tunes lighten the burdens of today through music that inspires me to look forward to a better tomorrow.. Two tracks stand out - the naughty "Play Boy Scout" and the mysterious "Blood Red Roses". "Blood Red Roses" continues to intrigue me as to the meaning of the lyrics. I was captured by the melody and lyrics the first time I heard it on vinyl in the mid 1970's. Even though my vinyl copy was lost decades ago, the song never left my memory as the mystery remains unsolved.

I was intrigued from the beginning by the fantastic opening action sequence. Questions began to form in mind that I hoped would be answered as the drama unfolded. There are twists and turns that kept me guessing who was on which side and the identities of the moles. I had better stop before I give too much of the plot, subplots and mystery away. However, I have to say the sequence of scenes aboard the train is intense and had me sitting on the edge of my seat. In the end the light erased the shadows and my questions were answered.

Good storytelling that takes it time to tell the story, but doesn't take too long. Production is so well done, it made me feel as though I was there living the story. The sights and sounds are just incredible. Acting of the highest caliber. This is a journey well worth my time and worth repeating.

Motown begins to allow Stevie to develop his unique Motown Sound by allowing him not only to write his own songs but also produce himself with the help of top arrangers.

Motown realized they could not fit Stevie comfortably within their usual sound. Henry Cosby, not one of Motown's well known producers, produced an album of high quality original songs and cover songs. The instrumental accompaniment was excellent as well as the sound engineering.
