Smurfs in their world instead of ours!

I grew up watching the Smurfs cartoon. Maybe that has something to do with it, but I just prefer seeing the Smurfs in their own world, more than in ours. The added fantasy element made it even better. Slipcover collectors will want to get this one before the covers are gone. It's a very nice design.

Great show. But Steelbook QC is slipping.

Unlike some of Bruce Campbell's low budget films, this show lives up to the hype. It's great fun. Quality control is somewhat lacking though. The second disc is encoded in a way that is causing loading errors on many players, including the Oppo 103D. It's easily fixed by clearing the player's memory. But, many have reported frustration using an variety of players. This is a problem with all discs, not just the steelbook edition, which are the same discs as in the regular release. Scanavo has REALLY been slipping with their Steelbook production though too. This is the third steelbook case we've purchased in the past six months that has a defective plastic liner that won't adequately latch. The latches aren't broken, they just won't quite reach together far enough to clasp. It's not a deal breaker. Afterall a real metal case that won't snap shut is still way cooler than plastic or paper. But, Best Buy needs to bring this to Scanavo's attention, as a lot of people have reported the same defect in online HT discussion boards.

The best comedy since Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Had I realized Shane Black was largely responsible for the Lethal Weapon series, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, I wouldn't have let mixed reviews cause me to wait for a price drop. Like the others, I laughed all the way through. Bear in mind that I don't find humor in cheap comedy based on nothing more than vulgar innuendo and profuse profanity. Not to imply that The Nice Guys doesn't have it's share of vulgarity, but it doesn't rely on such for it's laughs. This is the type of situational comedy that really gets me rolling and I haven't laughed so hard in years. Highly recommended for fans of traditional story and action driven laughs, reminiscent of an era when comedy was genuinely funny.

The art of war may be thousands of years old, but on the battlegrounds of the future, combat has become a big business. Where men and women once stood in defense of their nation the employees of Private Military Corporations (PMCs) are deployed, armed with the latest technologies and an arsenal of advanced weapons. Soldiers no longer need to specialize in any area of combat — equipped with powerful exoskeletons, they become the masters of all battlefield skills. In this new age of privatized combat, one PMC stands at the forefront of the industry, the juggernaut Atlas Corporation. Founded and led by Jonathan Irons, perhaps the most powerful man in the world, Atlas Corporation represents the evolution of modern combat. Under the oversight of Irons and men like him, the rules of warfare have been completely rewritten, and national borders change with the demands of the highest bidders. Do you have what it takes to navigate this ever-changing military landscape and answer the Call of Duty? The latest installment in the popular combat series, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare plunges you into the combat of the future, orchestrated and fought by PMCs with the latest technology in armor, weaponry and tactics. Enter the world of Jonathan Irons — the founder and president of the world's most dominant PMC, Atlas Corporation — in a powerful performance by Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey. Step onto the battlefield in a powerful exoskeleton that provides a massive force multiplier, delivers strategic freedom and enhances even the most adept soldier's abilities with optimized movement, jumping and grappling, covert cloaking abilities and biomechanics that take your strength, awareness, endurance and speed to the next level. The 1st COD game I wanted to play through twice!
on April 25, 2016

With the exception of Black Ops III, I've played ever COD or MW game released on PS3 and PS4. This was not only my favorite, it was the first in the series that I found myself eager to go through all over again, as soon as I finished the first campaign. I'm not much into the repetition of multiplayer. It's the single player campaigns that get my money.
Usually, while I enjoy the FPS action of the COD series, I find the stories rather convoluted, just going from one battle to another. This story was much more cohesive, with fantastic character acting, using big name performers, like Kevin Spacey. And the graphics were as good as I've seen from any PS4 game yet, especially the cut scenes, but the gameplay itself wasn't far behind.
This was also the first COD game that I didn't find Veteran difficulty an utter chore. In fact, I started and finished the game on Veteran difficulty the very first time out and didn't have much more difficulty with any level than I usually do on normal difficulty or at best hard difficulty. That may be the games only disappointment - for some anyway - that it doesn't pose more of a challenge.
Anyone can nitpick. And there's plenty here one could be critical of, if so inclined. But I had such a great time with the campaign, between it's attention keeping story and second to none next gen graphics, that I'm not of a cynical mind.

Skyrim style fun, but more adult:
on April 9, 2016

I haven't had this much fun running around a virtual world, since leaving Skyrim. Witcher hasn't been as buggy as Skyrim was on the PS3, but then I platinumed Skyrim, and still have some things to do in Witcher. It's not without problems though, and definitely needs some fine tuning, a good deal of it in fact. But, no game breakers so far. The worst I've encountered is one error that caused the system to send a report to Sony. So save often! I've also found in my travels more than a fair number of apparent glitches: traveling merchants who you can't buy from, character progressions that you can't highlight, so you can't tell what you're doing on the screen (this happens a lot actually), clues and other objects that don't highlight as they should with L2, lots of items that won't open, until you reposition yourself, even though the "x" is clearly visible on the screen, people floating in mid-air, having to miss your target with the bow to actually hit it, the usual stuff from poor testing...
But, again, it's been easily playable for the most part. That is, unless you start off on the hardest difficulty, which I found to be a little too challenging. I typically like harder levels in most games, and never play below normal. But this game is just too long for such to be enjoyable. Even on "easy", I find my character dying on occasion, from monsters that are well beyond my level, or even from seemingly simple jumps/falls of only about 10 feet. On the hardest difficulty, the very first group of monsters you encounter took me about 15 tries to beat, made more frustrating by the 20 minutes of dialogue you have to multi-skip through each and every time, right before the encounter - they should have put more thought into the auto-saves. But after about 10 tries against the first Griffin, and seeing that it's health bar was barely touched, I decided hard wasn't going to happen with this game, unless I really, really liked it so much, I wanted to play it again at some point.
In further comparisons to Skyrim, Witcher doesn't have near the character building that Skyrim offers. For good and bad, upgrading your weapons, abilities, and armor is more simplified. Meaning Witcher is more limiting on what you have control over and how/where you can control things, but that also tends to leave you more time for actual gameplay rather than character development. Unlike Skyrim, you can't fast travel from wherever you're standing, only from pre-selected sign posts and stone markers, unless you're on a boat. This ads greatly to the unnecessary running around you have to do.
The graphics are much improved from my time in Skyrim, as it should be. Not as vastly superior as some PS4 games, but a little higher quality than the best of the PS3 generation and MUCH more stable, with far less redundancy in locations and character appearance. I also miss the ability to switch perspective between third and first from time to time. But I think most games are better in third person anyway, and this one doesn't feel overly limited by it. Nor have run across much occasion where my view was impeded by a poor camera angle.
The game ads some unnecessary language that seems very out of place, and has a pornographic element that might really catch you off guard for a video game of this sort. So parents beware, there's more to potentially objectionably here than mere videogame violence and gore.
With all that in mind, I would recommend the game to adults, who enjoy such open-world RPGs as Skyrim.
