How do I recover everything on my old HD?

I want to replace my 500g drive with this 1 TB drive. How do I get everything from my old drive onto the new one so when I start the new drive everything is there?

look for copy hard drive software on the net. You can and should be able to get this for free.
however if your drive is fried you will not be able to copy it. YOu need to reformat a new drive nd restore from backup,

If I puchase this will I need to load Window 8 or is this plug and play?

if this is your only drive then load windows 8. if you use it as a backup it is plug and play.
