Underlying the best episodes of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. is a genuine feeling that anything is possible as the next 45 minutes of entertainment unfold.
Each weekly themed adventure tend to pack a great level of fun of cleverness as you ride alongside Brisco County, Jr. and Co. The series' ongoing orb story arc borders on exhausting at times, but works as a unifier across the episodes until the show's satisfying conclusion.
The balance between Western, Comedy, and Science-Fiction is navigated with ease by Bruce Campbell. In a show that can go anywhere, he's a man that can do anything and do it with a sincerity and humor that help even the unlikeliest of developments work.
Brisco County, Jr. is a top-notch hero whose adventures you do not want to miss.

Oo-De-Lally!

Disney's Robin Hood has a rare universal accessibility, still able to charm new viewers while time and time again reinvigorating the enthusiasm of those who hold the film as an old favorite.
What it may lack in historical significance among the pantheon of animated classics Robin Hood makes up for in pure charm, through its lovable characters, irresistible songs, and warmly familiar adventure.
This Blu-ray release is at times disappointing, its video neither fully reproducing a tangible, textured piece of artwork nor possessing the kind of perfectly sharp line work and smooth veneer of modern animation. Instead, the screen can take on a forced, smeared appearance; grain and imperfections are removed, but sometimes at the cost of robbing detail from the edges of the film's scratchy artistic styling. While undoubtedly the result of hard work from talented individuals, this visual presentation is not quite ideal.
Nonetheless, such a fine movie in a respectable presentation deserves an easy recommendation!

Pixar has continued to mature in its animation techniques and storytelling ambitions, but the studio will be hard-pressed to ever again release a film quite as vibrant as Monsters, Inc.
Blu-ray video quality is nose-to-the-screen good, and special features are plentiful (albeit dated at times by a 2001 DVD release origin).
Very few Blu-ray releases will be as universally crowd-pleasing as Monsters, Inc.

What's not so great: Inevitable re-releases and repackagings

The Start of Something Great

Jack Reacher somehow provokes two completely separate responses. While playing, it packs a powerful punch and inspires a real "They don't make 'em like this anymore!" enthusiasm. But, outside of its runtime, the cavalcade of crime-solving procedurals across screens big and small unfairly bury the film as a disposable one of many.
As the pilot of a television series, it would be monumental.
As the first film in a franchise, it would be fantastic.
As a standalone movie, it feels like only a piece of something larger.
Tom Cruise embodies another memorable character alongside the magnetic Rosamund Pike and a series of strong villains/suspects. Its mystery is well-constructed. Its car chase and various showdowns are surprisingly fresh. The film does its job with incredible skill and is undeniably worth a watch, but it might take the enrichment of a second installment in the series to elevate Jack Reacher to the status of something you will want to revisit time and time again.

What's not so great: Demands more

A Blu-ray worthy of your Confidence

The Sting is a film of intelligence and incredible charm. Every detail of the production, from its costumes to its music, appear to have been handled with great enthusiasm.
Many films and television shows since have attempted to lift the film's architecture and memorable character ticks, but, throughout its smile-inducing runtime, there's no doubt that The Sting remains one of a kind.
This Blu-ray release contains a nice retrospective and a solid audio-visual presentation of the film. As with previous releases on DVD and HD DVD, picture quality lacks the sharp, slick appearance of The Sting's modern-day caper contemporaries, but the hazy nostalgia of its 1930s atmosphere (or 1970s filmmaking) minimizes any resulting disappointment.
The Sting on Blu-ray is a top-notch film faithfully conveyed and a sure bet for any collection.

Paul Newman, P.I.

The genius of The Big Sleep (1946) is that it provides its audience so much joy following Humphrey Bogart for two hours as private detective Philip Marlowe that any shortcomings of its overly intricate plot are immediately forgotten.
With that in mind, Paul Newman brings you two hours as private investigator Lew Harper. His journey is much like that of Bogie twenty years earlier, crossing paths with his fair share of beautiful women and a quirky rogue's gallery of suspects along the way. And, as with The Big Sleep, good luck deciphering (or even remembering) some of the plot intricacies as the credits roll in front of your smiling face.
Harper's incredible excess of charm can cross the border into becoming laborious at times, making the film potentially hard to love for some, but almost impossible not to like.
DVD special features are scant but include a wonderfully interesting audio commentary with writer William Goldman.

Quietly Outstanding

Frequently intelligent and occasionally shocking, this heist film is a phenomenal breath of fresh air in a genre that has become overly reliant on sleek editing and false cleverness.
The Silent Partner derives its thrills from believable, cunningly self-motivated characters. The plot comes courtesy of Curtis Hanson (who would go on to direct L.A. Confidential), and it's carried out with unassuming skill by Elliott Gould, hitting a career apex, and Christopher Plummer, shattering his Von Trapp trappings. Supporting actresses Susannah York and Celine Lomez also provide vital contributions.
Despite a lack of special features, this DVD's Audio and Video treat the film well. Treat yourself well by giving this intense battle of wits a shot.

What's not so great: Misleading cover, No special features
