I heard about this during the Oscars and had to wait until October for it to be released! It was worth it. The creators did a great job of blending ancient Irish mythology with early Christian-era legends to make a engaging and memorable story. My kids, 15, 11 and 9 really enjoyed it. Their favorite element was the character of a cat, Pangur Ban, who helps move the story along. Do yourself a favor and look up the name of the cat and other characters. It will make your movie experience all the richer. I also recommend watching it a second time in a day or two so you can appreciate all the nuances you missed the first time around. It was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Oscar. It was touted for the beautiful animation, and rightly so. I'd even call it mesmerizing. Attention to accurate historical detail was incredible, both in the animation and story line. I found it a great vehicle to introduce my kids to their ancestral heritage. Another movie in a similar vein is The Secret of Roan Inish (live action), one of my all time favorites. Enjoy!
