Not a high end amp, but a fantastic system

Love the system, beautiful. Easy set up, great control with apps. I went with the connect amp and am disappointed with the sound quality. Barely drives two bookshelf speakers (high end speakers though), overextends itself beyond 60% and fails to put the oomph and depth into the sound. No weight to the sound. distorts at around 70%. I read 100 reviews and never saw an honest review of the sound quality, so here it is... It is not BAD, but I am sensitive to this and really wanted something that would replace a higher quality component amp/pre and this is not equivalent. Maybe with a powered sub allowing the amp to drive the mids and highs only. Won't possibly trust the Sonos sub now.
the Play 3 and 5s should be fine for fill sound in other areas.
I wasn't expecting audiophile quality, but surely a specialized audio only company like Sonos could have delivered a better amp. Still like 'the system' anyway.
